Job description

Pozzuoli (Naples), Italy | Full-time | Primarily on-site

Role Overview

Join TSD-Space to design, develop, and verify compact, high-reliability electronic systems for space missions, from Earth orbit to deep-space exploration.

You will work on analog and digital electronics, FPGA- and microprocessor-based architectures, and hardware verification activities, collaborating with experienced engineers across the full development lifecycle, from initial design to integration and testing.

Who We Are

Techno System Developments (TSD-Space) is an Italian aerospace electronics company specializing in the design, development, and manufacturing of high-reliability onboard and ground electronic systems.

With flight heritage dating back to 1993, TSD-Space has contributed to over 50 space missions and accumulated more than 500,000 hours of flight operations. Today, our hardware is on eight currently operating space systems, spanning Earth-orbiting satellites, deep-space spacecraft and orbiters, and the International Space Station.

Our expertise spans the complete payload data chain, from imaging and data acquisition to handling, compression, storage and onboard processing, together with spacecraft avionics and ground support equipment. We develop solutions for a broad range of applications, including Earth Observation, in-orbit servicing, navigation and inspection, and deep-space exploration.

What You'll Do

  • Electronic hardware design: Design and develop analog and digital electronic circuits, boards, and systems based on FPGA and microprocessor architectures.

  • Analysis and simulation: Perform circuit analysis, simulations, and design verification, contributing to technical reviews throughout the development lifecycle.

  • FPGA development: Develop, simulate, and verify VHDL code for FPGA-based systems.

  • Hardware verification and testing: Prepare and execute verification and validation activities, from breadboard and board-level testing to system integration and testing.

  • Multidisciplinary collaboration: Work closely with PCB layout, FPGA, embedded software, and systems engineers to develop and troubleshoot integrated hardware solutions.

  • Technical documentation: Prepare and maintain design descriptions, analysis reports, verification procedures, test results, and other engineering documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electronic Engineering or a closely related engineering field.

  • Deep understanding of analog and digital electronic design, including FPGA- and microprocessor-based architectures.

  • Knowledge of VHDL and FPGA development methodologies.

  • Knowledge of electronic design, circuit analysis, and simulation tools.

  • Practical familiarity with laboratory instruments and electronic hardware testing.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Full professional fluency in Italian and a good command of written and spoken English (B2 level or above, CEFR).

Nice to Have

  • Professional experience designing electronic boards and systems based on FPGA or microprocessor architectures.

  • Professional experience with VHDL development and verification for AMD/Xilinx or Microchip FPGA devices.

  • Experience with electronic design and PCB tools such as Siemens/Mentor Graphics PADS, Cadence Allegro, or Altium Designer.

  • Knowledge of FPGA synthesis, timing analysis, and hardware debugging.

  • Knowledge of engineering and verification practices for space applications, including ECSS standards and associated documentation.

  • A PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.

At TSD-Space, you'll contribute to challenging space missions and work closely with experienced engineers and technicians throughout the hardware development lifecycle.

Our focused, multidisciplinary teams give you the opportunity to:

  • Make a real impact: Work on high-reliability hardware designed for demanding space missions.

  • Experience the full development lifecycle: Gain exposure to projects from customer requirements and system design through manufacturing, integration, testing, and delivery.

  • Take ownership: Contribute to technical problem-solving and take responsibility for your work in a collaborative environment.

  • Keep growing: Build your expertise through hands‑on engineering, continuous learning, and increasing technical responsibility.

What We Offer

  • Permanent employment: An open-ended employment contract under the applicable Italian National Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCNL Terziario).

  • Competitive compensation: A competitive salary with a 14-month pay structure and an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

  • Flexible working arrangements:
We value in-person collaboration, particularly for hands‑on engineering activities, while offering flexible working hours and remote work arrangements depending on role requirements and project needs.

Early-Career Opportunities

Current university students and recent graduates whose experience is limited to internships or projects completed during their studies are also welcome to apply. Depending on their skills and eligibility, they may be considered for a separate six‑month paid internship and the possibility of subsequent permanent employment. Thesis‑related projects may also be arranged in collaboration with universities.
