DATA4 is seeking a Data Center Electrical Lead to drive the electrical design across its data center portfolio. The role covers concept to completion with oversight of electrical infrastructure and collaboration with IT, facilities, and project teams.

You will lead technical discussions, stay ahead on electrical trends, and ensure sustainable, efficient solutions across projects in Europe. The position is based in Marcoussis, Cornaredo, or Alcobendas with travel as needed.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience in data center design and construction.
• Experience leading electrical design projects from concept to completion.
• English: fluent.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Center Electrical Lead to join our Design & Engineering department. This is a transversal role within the department, playing a critical role in leading all electrical aspects of data center design and construction projects. You will provide technical leadership, own the electrical portions of the standard product, develop conceptual designs, innovate in your specialist field, represent the company in project meetings, and ensure the smooth implementation of our electrical infrastructure. The role will strategically provide said expert oversight and discipline leadership across all Data4 portfolio of assets under development.

Responsibilities

• Design:
  • Develop and own the electrical systems of the Data4 baseline data centre product.
  • Lead the design and development of conceptual and detailed electrical systems for new and existing data centers.
  • Analyze power requirements to optimize efficiency and reliability, considering overall data center needs and long-term goals.
  • Select and specify electrical equipment based on industry best practices, project requirements, and sustainability considerations.
  • Ensure electrical system design seamlessly integrates with other systems (mechanical, IT, etc.) through close collaboration with relevant teams.
• Implementation and Construction:
  • During the project implementation, oversee process for new and upgraded electrical systems, ensuring adherence to the baseline product, project timelines and budgets.
  • Support during key construction milestones such as design reviews, commissioning, problem resolution.
  • Identify and resolve electrical system issues efficiently to maintain project progress.
  • Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to ensure smooth construction and installation of electrical components.
• Technical Expertise and Representation:
  • Stay at the forefront of the latest trends and technologies in data center electrical design and operation.
  • Proactively identify and propose innovative solutions to optimize electrical performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the Construction team on electrical matters.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of electrical failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Represent the company in technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders, focusing on electrical aspects of projects.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring transparency and understanding.
  • Collaborate effectively with various teams, including IT, facilities, project management, and contractors.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in data center electrical systems and processes.
  • Lead the implementation of new technologies and best practices to enhance reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Analyze data and performance metrics to identify areas for optimization.

Requirements

• Education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in data center design and construction or equivalent experience in critical infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing electrical design projects from concept to completion.
  • English: fluent
• Technical skills
  • Experience on electrical Systems and discipline (distribution, backup systems & strategies, standards, discrimination study and calculations ).
  • Strong understanding of data center power distribution, load balancing and failure scenarios
  • Experience with commissioning and startup of data center electrical systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent.
  • LEED AP certification or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with data center infrastructure management software (DCIM) focusing on electrical systems.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and best practices.
