TGS International Group is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of electrical systems for Data Centres and High-Tech Facilities in an international setting.

You will develop and coordinate LV/MV power systems, prepare layouts and calculations, and contribute to documentation, testing, and commissioning across multidisciplinary teams. Fluent Italian and professional English are required, with travel as needed.

Electrical Design Engineer – Data Centres & High-Tech Facilities

About the Role

An international engineering and technology organisation is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design and delivery of electrical systems for Data Centres and other High-Tech Facilities.

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for the planning, design and coordination of electrical building services from concept through detailed design, procurement support, construction and commissioning. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical engineer looking to develop their career while working on complex, technically challenging projects in a collaborative international environment.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design & Engineering

• Develop electrical system designs for Data Centre and high-tech facility projects.
• Prepare electrical layouts, calculations and cost estimates.
• Produce technical documentation including drawings, specifications, functional descriptions and bills of quantities.
• Design electrical infrastructure in accordance with project requirements, applicable regulations and engineering best practice.
• Review engineering documentation to ensure quality, accuracy and technical compliance.

Project Delivery

• Support the delivery of electrical engineering projects from concept design through construction and commissioning.
• Manage assigned engineering activities to ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope.
• Coordinate electrical design activities with project management and other engineering disciplines.
• Support procurement activities by preparing technical documentation and responding to contractor queries.
• Participate in installation support, testing, commissioning and project close-out activities.
• Attend project meetings, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) as required.

Technical Coordination

• Collaborate closely with clients to understand project requirements and provide technical solutions.
• Coordinate interfaces with Mechanical, Process, Structural, Architectural and BIM teams.
• Work with contractors, suppliers and external engineering partners to ensure successful project execution.
• Support technical reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain clear communication between internal and external stakeholders.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all electrical designs comply with Italian regulations and relevant international engineering standards.
• Maintain high engineering quality across all project deliverables.
• Support compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
• Review technical documentation for completeness, consistency and constructability.
• Promote engineering best practice and continuous improvement.

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Build effective working relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Provide technical guidance throughout design and construction phases.
• Participate in technical workshops and project coordination meetings.
• Support successful project delivery through proactive communication and problem solving.
• Contribute to the development of efficient and sustainable electrical engineering solutions.
• Support digital engineering and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and project delivery.
• Share technical knowledge and support continuous professional development within the engineering team.

• Low Voltage (LV) Electrical Systems
• Medium Voltage (MV) Electrical Systems
• Power Distribution Systems
• Cable Routing & Containment
• Earthing & Lightning Protection
• Electrical Calculations
• Technical Specifications
• Bills of Quantities
• Electrical Design Documentation
• Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
• Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)

Candidate Requirements

• Degree or technical qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in the design, planning, construction, maintenance or commissioning of electrical systems within industrial or high-tech environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, standards and regulations.
• Experience preparing electrical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with electrical design and analysis software.
• Understanding of local construction materials and labour costs.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard engineering software.
• Fluent Italian and professional English.
• Willingness to travel to client offices, suppliers and project sites when required.
• Knowledge of electrical analysis software such as ETAP, Power Factory, Easypower, Ampere Professional or similar.
• Experience using Dialux or other lighting calculation software.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Familiarity with BIM and digital engineering workflows.
• Experience supporting international engineering projects.

Qualifications & Certifications

Preferred

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineering registration or equivalent certification.
• Membership of a recognised engineering institution.
• Additional training in electrical design software or BIM (advantageous).
• Health & Safety training relevant to construction or industrial environments.
