Job summary

Belmond Ltd. is seeking a Divisional Director of Engineering to lead all Maintenance and Engineering across 13 hotels in the Division Southern Europe, aligning with Belmond's luxury brand strategy.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in hotel engineering, hands-on expertise with MEP systems, renovations, capital projects, and sustainability. You will manage budgets, coach teams, ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and optimal guest comfort across properties, with travel as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar hotel engineering role.
• Proven track record managing large-scale new construction and renovation projects.
• Deep knowledge of design, installation and maintenance of hotel engineering systems (electric, HVAC, plumbing, lifts).
• Experience with energy efficiency and sustainability practices (LEED, BREEAM, EarthCheck).
• Fluency in English, strong leadership and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities for major renovations, new developments and CapEx projects from conception to completion.
• Collaborate with Design & Construction teams on budgets, timelines, and commissioning.
• Provide leadership to hotel Directors of Engineering and their teams; conduct site visits and audits.
• Develop and manage divisional engineering budgets (CapEx/OpEx) and drive cost savings.
• Drive energy management initiatives and sustainability across operations.
• Establish and maintain vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.
