Job summary

Ingersoll Rand Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer in Gorle, Italy to support the design and development of rotary and centrifugal compressors for oil and gas projects.

The role emphasizes mechanical design, CAD modeling, and adherence to industry standards while coordinating with external engineering partners. The successful candidate will have strong CAD skills, familiarity with compressor physics, and the ability to review 3D models with customers and internal teams, ensuring design integrity

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks / Inventor / Creo / NX).
• Strong understanding of compressor mechanics and thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with oil&gas equipment standards.
• Experience with offshore/NORSOK knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with simulation tools (ANSYS / COMSOL) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design auxiliary systems, baseplates, tanks and mechanical components to meet project needs.
• Select materials based on environment and process conditions.
• Coordinate with external engineering teams and perform design reviews.
• Perform risk assessments and design validation.
• Support cost optimization and value engineering for parts and skid.
• Ensure compliance with API, ASME, ISO standards.

Job Summary

We are looking for a technically proficient and detail-driven Design Engineer to support the design and development of rotary / centrifugal compressors and related mechanical systems within the oil and gas industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, CAD modeling, and industrial standards relevant to oil & gas applications and will coordinate activities alongside external engineering company as well.

Responsibilities

• Design of auxiliary systems, baseplate, mechanical/electrical components, tank, vessel etc to meet the project requirements
• Ensure proper selection of Material Selection based on environmental / process conditions and project requirements
• Ability to select instrumentation and electrical component is considered a plus
• Perform Risk Assessment and Design Validation
• Ability to manage Root Cause Analysis
• Support the Cost Optimization and Value Engineering while designing parts and skid
• Support specific Customer meeting relating to the 3D model review (30%, 60%, 90%), HFE meetings , review meetings, design review meetings
• Maintain version control and ensure compliance with industry standards (API, ASME, ISO)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, or Siemens NX (3-5 yrs experience) is a plus
• Strong understanding of rotary/centrifugal compressor mechanics and thermodynamic principles
• Familiarity with oil & gas equipment standards and operational environments or similar
• Experience with offshore application (NORSOK knowledge) is considered a plus
• Experience with simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL) is a plus
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and engineering specifications
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
