ELCA Information Technology Ltd. in Italy seeks a Data Engineer to contribute to data migration initiatives within an international environment. You will execute large-scale migration cycles, ensure data quality and implement robust transformations on SQL Server.

You will collaborate with business analysts and developers across teams, develop mapping rules with dbt, and maintain automated data quality controls, CI/CD workflows, and technical documentation to industrialize migration processes.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL expertise including complex queries and performance optimization.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining ELT/ETL data pipelines.
• Experience with dbt; SSIS or equivalent data integration tools.
• Solid understanding of data modelling, data quality and reconciliation principles.

Responsabilités

• Execute iterative data migration cycles, analyzing errors, rejections and reconciliation gaps across different data layers.
• Identify root causes of data issues and implement fixes in dbt and T-SQL transformations on SQL Server.
• Implement and maintain automated data quality controls and KPI reconciliation.
• Develop mapping and transformation rules from functional specs into tested models.
• Investigate and resolve data defects found during testing and production support.

At ELCA, we believe that high-quality data and strong data engineering capabilities are key drivers of successful digital transformation. We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team in Italy and contribute to challenging data migration initiatives within a complex and international environment.

In this role, you will work on the execution and continuous improvement of large-scale data migration processes, with a strong focus on data quality, troubleshooting and transformation.

You will work closely with technical and functional teams, analyzing data migration results, identifying root causes of errors or inconsistencies, and implementing reliable solutions to ensure high-quality data throughout the migration lifecycle.

Your responsibilities

As a Data Engineer, you will:

• Execute iterative data migration cycles, analyzing errors, rejections and reconciliation gaps across different data layers.
• Identify the root causes of data issues and implement appropriate fixes in existing dbt and T-SQL transformation rules on Microsoft SQL Server.
• Implement and maintain automated data quality controls and reconciliation KPIs.
• Develop mapping and transformation rules based on functional specifications, translating business requirements into versioned and tested transformation models.
• Investigate and resolve data-related defects identified during testing and production support phases.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement and industrialization of data migration processes through Git-based workflows, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines and technical documentation.
• Collaborate closely with business analysts, developers, product teams and other stakeholders in an international environment.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with an analytical and structured approach to data.

You bring:

• Strong SQL expertise, including complex queries, set-based transformations and performance optimization.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Hands-on experience in building and maintaining ELT/ETL data pipelines.
• Experience with dbt is highly appreciated. Experience with SSIS or comparable data integration technologies is also relevant.
• Solid understanding of data modelling, data quality and reconciliation principles.
• Experience with Git-based development workflows, code reviews and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with Agile working environments and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
• A strong analytical mindset, autonomy and attention to detail.
• The ability to work confidently with complex and high-volume datasets.
• English level B2 or above, enabling you to work effectively in an international team.

Nice to have

The following would be considered an advantage:

• Knowledge of French.
• Experience with Python or PowerShell for automation and data analysis.
• Knowledge of Liquibase or other database change-management tools.
• Previous experience in data migration projects or other complex data-transformation environments.

What we offer

• Temporary employment contract (1 year).
• Gross annual salary (RAL) between €28,000 and €33,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
