Job summary

Tecnimont, MAIRE’s flagship company for integrated E&C solutions, seeks a Civil & Structural Underground Specialist to join our team in Catania. The role involves executing underground works for large-scale projects and coordinating across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions with a focus on quality and safety.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in Civil Engineering, 5+ years in underground systems, proficiency in BIM, AutoCAD and Navisworks, and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, ideally with specialization in Hydraulic Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in underground systems engineering, preferably in plant engineering in petrochemical/oil & gas/power sectors.
• Fluent in English; Italian is a plus.
• Willingness to travel for short- and long-term assignments.
• Permanent contract under applicable collective agreement; Middle Manager level.

Responsibilities

• Design underground systems (sewers, piping, duct banks, trenches, etc.) and related paving/earthworks.
• Prepare General Specifications for Underground Systems and for Paving/Roads.
• Perform hydraulic calculations for gravity drainage and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Manage underground systems data from other teams ensuring consistency and coordination.
• Ensure deliverables meet contractual quality and client requirements.

The Civil & Structural Underground Specialist will be part of the project team and will be responsible for the execution of underground (UG) activities of the project.

The main activities and responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the quality of the deliverables and their compliance with contractual requirements, following up on Client comments and requests, technical clarifications, and project concession requests;
• Carrying out the design of all underground systems (i.e., sewers, pressure piping, duct bank, trenches, conduits, stub-ups, ditches, pits, etc.), paved areas, roads, yards, and earthworks related to the assigned projects, in coordination with the other disciplines;
• Preparing General Specifications for Underground Systems, including the analysis of all plant systems, hydraulic design criteria, and the installation and testing requirements of the relevant components;
• Performing hydraulic calculations for gravity drainage systems;
• Preparing General Specifications for Paving and Roads;
• Managing underground systems based on data received from other disciplines (Layout & Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Utilities/Power Process, Design HSE, Mechanical, HVAC, etc.), ensuring consistency and coordination among all inputs.

Personal Attributes:

• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, preferably with a specialization in Hydraulic Engineering;
• Minimum 5 years of experience in underground systems engineering, preferably within plant engineering companies operating in the petrochemical, oil & gas, or power sectors;
• Proficiency in BIM software for 3D modelling and design development;
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for the preparation and modification of 2D drawings and in Autodesk Navisworks for clash detection and model review activities;
• Experience in coordinating international engineering centres and site engineering teams;
• Experience in coordinating site-related engineering and construction activities;
• Fluent in both spoken and written English; knowledge of Italian would be considered an advantage;
• Availability to travel for both short- and long-term assignments;
• Contract Type and Classification:Contract type: Permanent Applicable collective agreement (NCLC): Chemical and Chemical-Pharmaceutical (identification code B011)Job classification level: Middle Manager, consistent with job requirements and applicable Collective Agreement
• Compensation:The initial gross annual salary for this position, paid over 14 monthly installments, will be 48,00.00€
• The compensation package will include the applicable elements of the Collective Agreement as well as benefits provided under company agreements, including flexible benefits and a participation bonus. Any additional variable components and/or benefits, regulated by Standards, Policies and/or company agreements, will be illustrated during the selection process.
