What you will do:

The Credit Analysis Unit/Business Credit Officer (“CAU/BCO”, a division of Credit Capital Management COO, CCM COO) team works closely with Corporate and Institutional Banking, CIB Relationship Managers (RMs or Coverage) to help them prepare credit proposals for the Bank’s borrowing names across either Corporate or Financial Institutions sectors. By closely managing the credit-related work load and encouraging deep collaboration between CAU/BCO, RMs, WCMR, and CIB COO functions, CAU/BCO maintains a flexible operating model ensuring credit work for new business transactions are consistently and effectively prioritized to exploit revenue generating activities, and credit annual renewals are serviced in a timely manner and to a standard that meets or exceeds HSBC standards. CAU/BCO also assist RMs with agreed credit-related tasks pertaining to their clients’ credit life-cycle.

The role provides CIB RMs with an onshore support for their credit risk matters, analyses and processes. In this regard, alongside these designated Coverage teams, the role holder will assist with day to day risk management (renewals, new monies) of a specified portfolio of existing clients, on MNPI transactions as required, work with wider CCM COO functions as necessary to assist with credit related tasks and work with local and regional stakeholders and CAU/BCO management where required to assist with the delivery of the credit portfolio within prescribed timelines and quality. The role has no direct report.

In this role you wil:
  • Provide high-quality, forward-looking credit analysis and support the preparation of credit proposals for a defined portfolio across Corporate and/or Financial Institutions clients, in line with HSBC standards and credit policies.
  • Partner closely with CIB Relationship Managers (Coverage), WCMR and wider credit stakeholders to manage day-to-day credit risk activities (new money, annual reviews/renewals, and related credit lifecycle tasks).
  • Act as an onshore credit risk support point for Coverage teams, helping to reduce touchpoints and improve turnaround times through strong knowledge of policy, process and sector dynamics.
  • Monitor relevant management information and portfolio developments, identifying emerging risks, required actions and potential business opportunities.
  • Ensure consistent quality and timely delivery against renewal timelines, KPIs and governance expectations, with disciplined adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of ways of working, sharing knowledge and good practice across the team to strengthen delivery and collaboration.
You should apply if you have:
  • A degree (or equivalent) and 3+ years of banking experience, with proven capability in business and credit risk analysis.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, with the ability to consolidate complex information and clearly articulate key risks and mitigants.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional European language skills are an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS (and ideally local GAAP), with confidence interpreting financial statements and credit drivers.
  • Good understanding of banking products (e.g., lending/credit and treasury products), including key structural risks, terms and conditions.
  • A track record of prioritising competing demands under pressure, collaborating across teams, and constructively managing differing viewpoints (including escalating clearly when needed).

Even if you feel you do not meet 100% of our qualifications, we encourage you to apply, if you believe this role is right for you.
