Leaman Consulting is assisting a UHNW client in Milan to recruit a highly experienced Butler/House Manager for a fully staffed private household. The role is live-out, with initial accommodation support for relocation to Milan.

The role is long-standing, with a comprehensive handover from a valued team member. Travel to London up to four months annually; weekend flexibility and a discreet, professional presentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Italian and English is essential.
• Professionally presented with a standard uniform during working hours; dress for formal occasions/or overseas travel.
• Deep understanding of formal etiquette and protocol.
• Excellent time management and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a discreet, calm manner.
• Willingness to travel to London with the family (up to 4 months per year).
• Ability to bank time in lieu for additional hours; flexible to changing schedules.

Responsabilités

• Full wardrobe management: seasonal rotation, dry cleaning, laundry, pressing, garment care, shoe polishing.
• Packing and unpacking for short and long-haul travel.
• Run daily errands, local shopping and provisioning.
• Table setting and informal meal service support.
• Greeting guests with a warm, discreet welcome.
• Maintain stock levels of toiletries, medications and household consumables.
• Support housekeeping, ensuring top presentation of the home.
• Occasional restaurant and appointment bookings for the family.
• Conduct routine house checks, troubleshoot issues and coordinate external contractors.
• Collaborate with the wider household team (3 housekeepers, 2 rota nannies, chef, security).

We are assisting a UHNW client based in Milan in their search for a highly experienced Butler/House Manager to join their fully staffed private household. This is a live-out role; however, initial assistance with accommodation can be provided for candidates relocating to Milan.

This is a long-standing, established role, replacing a valued member of the team who will provide a comprehensive handover for a few months. The family is willing to provide temporary accommodation if the candidate is relocating.

The Role

• Full wardrobe management: overseeing seasonal rotation, dry cleaning, laundry, pressing, garment care and shoe polishing
• Packing and unpacking for both short and long-haul travel
• Running daily errands and assisting with local shopping and provisioning
• Table setting and assisting with informal meal service
• Greeting guests and offering a warm, discreet welcome
• Ensuring stock levels of toiletries, medication, and household consumables are consistently maintained
• Supporting the housekeeping team and ensuring the home is presented to the highest standard at all times
• Making occasional restaurant and appointment bookings for the family
• Conduct routine house checks to ensure everything is operational, trouble shoot any issues and liaise and organise external contractors & tradespeople fix any maintenance issues
• Working closely with the wider household team: 3 housekeepers, 2 rota nannies (2 weeks on/off), a private chef, and 2 rotating security professionals.

Requirements

• Fluency in both Italian and English is essential
• You will be professionally presented, maintaining a standard uniform during working hours (alternative dress may be required for formal occasions or overseas travel)
• In-depth understanding of formal etiquette and protocol
• Excellent time management and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills with a discreet and calm manner
• Willingness to travel to London with the family (up to 4 months per year, often in extended periods)
• Ability to take time off when the family are travelling and to bank time in lieu for additional hours/days worked
• Flexibility is a must as each week will be different depending on the family's schedule, so the candidate must be able to self-organise their days off

The Family

• Based in a beautiful home in Brera, Milan
• 2 principals, a 3.5-year-old daughter, and a baby boy 7 months
• Informal, warm household with a formal standard of service
• Travel frequently, especially to London, and maintain a high standard of organisation and presentation throughout their home

Important details

• Travel to London Required (Approx. 4 Months Annually)
• Start: Flexible
• Competitive Salary DOE 75,000 ++ euros + discretionary bonus
• Hours: Typically Monday-Friday 11:30am-9:30pm (with breaks), alternating weekly with Monday-Saturday; days off during the week will be given in lieu of weekend work
