Involve Space in Lipomo, Italy is seeking a Balloon Manufacturing Specialist to enhance their stratospheric balloon operations. You will be crucial in the manufacturing process, quality control, and flight testing of innovative balloon models.

The ideal candidate has a diploma in Manufacturing and experience in aerospace. Join a growing team that's pushing the boundaries of stratospheric technology through collaboration with agencies like NASA and ESA.

Our stratospheric balloons are changing the way we observe and interact with our planet. As we expand our operations, we are looking for a dedicated Balloon Manufacturing Specialist to join our dynamic team. This is an extraordinary opportunity to be a part of a pioneering field, contributing to groundbreaking advancements in stratospheric technology.

The balloons are the spacecraft of Stratostats, our pseudo-satellite platform: https://www.involvespace.it/stratostats/

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration with Engineering Team: Work closely with our engineers in plotting and designing new balloon models. Bring innovative ideas and technical insights to the tale to enhance our balloon capabilities.
  • Manufacturing Expertise: Handle the manufacturing process of our balloons, starting from managing the raw plastic film material. Your role will involve precision cutting, welding, and assembling various components to build high-quality balloons.
  • Quality Control and Testing: Conduct rigorous quality checks, pressure tests, and seal integrity assessments in our state‑of‑the‑art laboratory. Ensure that every balloon meets our strict standards for durability and performance.
  • Flight Testing: Play a critical role in conducting and analyzing test flights, gathering data to continuously improve balloon design and functionality.
  • Launch and Recovery Operations: Collaborate with our launch team in deploying, preparing, and launching balloons. After mission completion, be a key player in the recovery and storage of both the balloon and the probe, ensuring they are ready for future use.
Requirements
Must have
  • Diploma in Manufacturing, Industrial, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, preferably in aerospace or related industries.
  • Proficiency in handling and processing plastic film materials.
  • Solid understanding of welding techniques and quality control processes.
  • Solid understanding of conducting laboratory and field tests.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to dynamic project requirements.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Nice to have
  • Experience with satellite communications or aerospace systems
  • Knowledge of SDR (Software Defined Radio), Amateur radio software and LoRa
  • Experience with LTE / 5G / IoT communications
  • Experience with embedded systems or avionics integration
  • Knowledge of high‑altitude or space environments
  • Knowledge of programming languages (C, C++ and Python)
