Job summary

Nidec Conversion is seeking an Automation Commissioning Engineer for the Montebello site in Italy. You will design, implement, and verify automation software, test hardware and software, and bring the system into service. On-site support will be provided to the HW engineering team with field collaboration.

The role requires PLC programming, SCADA basics, and knowledge of electrical distribution and drive technologies. Travel may be involved as needed in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Engineering/Electronics/Informatics degree required.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, verify system Automation functions SW; test HW and SW equipment.
• Provide on-site technical assistance and support for HW engineering modifications.
• Identify modules from specifications and customize to meet requirements.
• Test and verify modules/functions SW; use simulators where appropriate.
• Prepare maintenance and use documentation for customers and internal users.
• Define interfaces between modules/subsystems and external systems.
• Coordinate with external SW module suppliers and follow up.
• Oversee commissioning of hardware devices and SW applications.
• Perform functional and acceptance tests of the provided system.

Nidec Conversion is looking for an AUTOMATION COMMISSIONING ENGINEER for Montebello site.

SUMMARY OF ROLE

• Design, implement, verify the system Automation functions SW, test the HW and SW equipment in the test room, put in service the HW equipment and SW applications. Provide technical assistance on site and support from the field the HW engineering body in the definition of project modifications.

PRINCIPLE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Starting from the specifications of the contractual project (functional specification of system, functional specifications of the mechanic), identify the modules Std and carry out the necessary customizations in order to satisfy the above specification.
• Perform the testing and verification of the modules/functions SW, possibly using simulators.
• Issue the use and maintenance documentation both to the customer and to internal users.
• Analyze and define interfaces between the various modules and/or subsystems available internally and from the market.
• Issue the details of the SW to support internal realizations or to support requests for performance performed externally.
• Follow up any external suppliers of SW modules.
• Prepare and carry out the activities of commissioning of HW devices and SW applications provided in supply.
• Perform the functional and acceptance tests of the provided system.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree Engineering/Electronics/Informatics
• Junior High School (5 years) electrical/electronic/Computer expert
• Good English
• Programming languages SW and HW platform of PLC.
• Communication systems and networks for automation supervisory Systems (SCADA) basic knowledge of electrical machines (transformers and motors), power electronics and converters
• Electrical distribution systems and equipment automation systems applied to different industrial lines and related processes.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

• availability to travel 6/10 months per year.
