Job summary

GrainCorp is seeking an Assistant Site Manager for the Roma West operation, reporting to the Site Manager and coordinating a team of Grain Handlers to ensure safe, smooth and efficient grain reception, storage and outloading by road and rail.

You will lead day-to-day workflow, foster relationships with growers and customers, and support maintenance, safety and quality programs while managing a sizable seasonal workforce during busy harvest periods.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day workflow of the team and support recruitment, training and development of permanent and casual staff
• Develop and maintain relationships with growers, customers, local groups and internal stakeholders
• Support resource planning for grain receival/outload during peak and off-peak periods
• Assist planning and execution of maintenance, grain protection, safety and quality activities and reporting
• Supervise a large seasonal workforce during harvest periods across multiple sites

About the role

As our Roma West Assistant Site Manager, you'll work closely with the Site Manager and a great team of permanent Grain Handlers to help deliver a safe, smooth and efficient service in receiving, storing and outloading grain by both road and rail.

Alongside a variety of hands-on grain handling tasks that keep our operation moving, you will also:

• Coordinate day-to-day workflow of the team and support to attract, select, train, and develop permanent and casual team members
• Develop and maintain relationships with growers, customers, local community groups and internal stakeholders
• Support the resource planning for grain receival / outload activity during peak and off-peak periods
• Support the planning and execution of scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance, grain protection, safety and quality activities and related reporting
• Supervise a large seasonal workforce during our busy harvest intake periods, including at multiple sites.

About your experience

Our ideal candidate has plant operations experience gained in any industry, a strong safety mindset, and a genuine desire to make a positive contribution to the thriving agricommodities industry. You should also have:

• Some experience in supervising/leading teams (or the potential to)
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
