Job summary

Thales Alenia Space is seeking an Artificial Intelligence Engineer to design and develop trustworthy AI components across domains. You will explore cutting-edge AI technologies—ML, symbolic, and dialogue—while building NLP/NLU solutions and multimodal human-machine dialogue with intent understanding and reasoning.

You will work on machine learning, causality, and data-driven AI techniques, plus symbolic AI, ontology, and knowledge-based reasoning.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design and develop trustworthy AI components for diverse domains.
• Identify cutting-edge AI technologies (ML, symbolic, dialogue) and implement accordingly.
• Work on NLP/NLU and multimodal human-machine dialogue with intention understanding.
• Develop ML and data-driven AI methods (Random Forest, Evolutionary Algorithms, etc.).
• Contribute to Symbolic AI, ontology, semantic web, and knowledge reasoning.
• Propose alternatives, integrate scientific method into engineering practice.
• Ensure data knowledge and traceability, stay aware of trends.
• Define system capabilities via functional/ value analysis to maximize customer value.

• You graduated from an Engineering School with a master's degree – a PhD is a plus
• Your level of experience ranges from junior to advance: you are a student OR/AND you have already occupied one or more positions among the following: Algorithm or Software Engineer, Artificial Intelligence Engineer
• You are curious and willing to stay abreast of the latest trends (technical, philosophical, ethical by design)
• You enjoy thinking "outside the box" and use your creativity to address complex challenges

• Human/machine dialog
• Systems Analysis
• You understand the norms, laws and standards
• You have knowledge of cybersecurity
• You can confidently discuss with people from different jobs and background
• You master foundational concepts in mathematics/ statistics science and their application to deploy them on Solution studies: statistical modelling, linear algebra, optimisation, machine learning Mathematics and Statistics

NICE TO HAVE

• Simulation by tool such as Matlab & Simulink
• adopting modern Agile and DevOps processes
• Knowledge of Data analysis and big data technologies
• Knowledge of Cloud technologies and architectures
• Knowledge of Edgetechnologies
• Knowledge of object programming in particular Python (Pyorch) , Java, C ++ and relevant Data Science packages (such as numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, pandas...);
• Good knowledge of operating systems;

AS AN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ENGINEERING ROLE WITHIN THALES, YOU WILL

• Design and develop trustworthy artificial intelligence components for various domains
• Identify the right cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence technologies (machine learning, symbolic AI, dialogue) and develop the Artificial Intelligence component accordingly
• Work on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Understanding (NLU), and also to design multimodal approaches for Human-Machin Dialog including intention understanding, reasoning and hybrid AI
• Work on Machine Learning, causality vs. correlation, and/or other Data driven AI technics such as Random Forest, Evolutionary Algorithms, ...
• Work on Symbolic AI, Ontology, Semantic Web, Knowledge based Reasoning, Meta-heuristics, Problem Solving, Operations Research, Decision Making and reasoning
• Propose and design approach alternatives
• Integrate scientific method into engineering system methodology
• Ensure data knowledge and traceability
• Ensure continuous technowatch and be aware of the latest trends (technical, philosophical, ethical by design)
• Define the system capabilities thanks to a functional, logical and value analysis, describing functions to be performed to meet the real needs of the user in the various scenarii and maximising product value for Customer
