Job summary

IFOM, the AIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology in Milan, seeks an AI scientist to develop and apply machine learning and generative AI to distinguish indolent from aggressive cancers from diagnosis onward. You will work within IFOM's institute-wide AI programme and collaborate with experimental and clinical groups to extract mechanistic insights and predictive biomarkers.

Role includes building pipelines for multi-scale data, integrating single-cell/spatial omics, genomics, and proteomics, and

Qualifications

PhD in computational biology, informatics, computer science or related field.
Strong record in AI/ML for biomedicine (computational oncology, single-cell/spatial biology, digital pathology, multi-omics or foundation models).
Proven ability to integrate multiple data modalities; hands-on expertise in modern deep learning; interest in clinical datasets.

Responsibilities

Apply models that integrate multi-omics and imaging data to predict tumor fate.
Decipher determinants of indolent vs aggressive behaviour from biopsies.
Translate model outputs into predictive biomarkers and hypotheses for precision therapy.
Develop foundation models and pipelines for reproducible analyses across groups.
