Generali in Milano seeks an AI Developer and Engineer – Team Lead to build reliable AI systems across ML, DL, NLP, CV, and LLMs. You will lead end-to-end projects and collaborate with stakeholders to plan timelines and staffing.

You will drive PoC to production, enforce best practices for scalable, secure AI solutions, and mentor a team of AI developers in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

The Group Data Artificial Intelligence and Automation Solutions function is in charge of driving the execution of key Artificial Intelligence projects at Group level, related both to AI-driven automation and AI recommendations/predictions to support the Generali growth. The function is also responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving a library of central shared analytics / automation services, leveraging cutting-edge technologies, algorithms, and methodologies, available for the BUs through a central platform.

Within this organization, the AI and Generative AI Development Unit is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI solutions.

Your mission as an AI Developer and Engineer - Team Lead is to build reliable, optimized, and maintainable AI systems, including traditional machine learning models, deep learning architectures, computer vision, NLP, and large language models (LLMs).

• Lead the design and development of end-to-end projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project timelines and ensure appropriate staffing to meet business requirements.
• Lead project implementation from proof of concept (PoC) through full development life cycle.
• Establish and enforce best practices (code standards, MLOps, dataset versioning, etc.) to guarantee scalable, secure, and high-quality AI solutions across all deployments, acting as a reference point at unit level.
• Manage and mentor a team of AI developers, fostering skill development, performance excellence, and a collaborative work environment.

Requirements

• Master’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Solid background in AI / ML engineering and Process automation algorithms.
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
• 5+ years of experience.
• Proven experience in developing and deploying AI solutions (ML, Deep Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, LLMs).
• Strong knowledge of Agentic Development.
• Experience with MLOps practices (CI/CD for ML, model versioning, monitoring).
• Practical and theoretical knowledge of at least one cloud platform.
• Understanding of data engineering principles and scalable architectures.

Soft Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage complex projects.
• Strong communication skills to bridge Data Science and Engineering teams.
• Ability to define best practices and ensure code quality across projects.
• Problem-solving mindset and capacity to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
• Ability to plan and track the activity AI Teams (Confluence and Jira)

Preferred:

• Experience with statistical / ML models

What we offer

We offer employment at the Manager level with the relevant salary, in accordance with the CCNL ANIA for non-executive employees and the Generali Group Company Agreement.

Gross annual salary ranging between € 56k and € 70k. The final offer will be aligned with the candidate’s professional experience, technical and soft skills relevant to the role, and may include an individual variable component
