European Tech Recruit seeks an Agentic AI Expert for Model‑Based Engineering to join an RD team in Pisa, Italy. You will advance Model‑Based Design tools by embedding AI-powered agents, improving simulation and code generation, and enabling sophisticated LLM workflows.

You will work with engineers, researchers and PhDs on cutting-edge RD projects, applying your expertise to real engineering software platforms. Fluency in English is required.

Competenze

• MSc in Engineering, Computer Science or related field; PhD preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of Java and Python.
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, PyTorch and Docling.
• Hands-on AI coding agents like Claude Code, OpenCode or Codex.
• Experience with OpenAI API, MCP servers and tool calling.
• Strong understanding of Agentic AI patterns, prompt engineering, and LLM workflows.
• Experience designing multi-agent architectures (RAG, orchestration, tool calling).
• Experience optimizing distributed LLM pipelines for latency and token efficiency.
• Familiarity with Model-Based Design concepts (UML, Simulink, Stateflow).
• Strong communication, teamwork and a product mindset.
• Fluent English; able to work in an international environment.
• Willingness to travel within Europe and occasionally to China.

Agentic AI Expert for Model-Based Engineering

Our client is a leading global technology company with a strong research and development presence in Europe, focused on developing advanced technologies and applications across digital power, electric vehicles, and intelligent engineering systems.

They are currently looking for an Agentic AI Expert for Model-Based Engineering to join their RD team in Pisa, Italy.

In this role, you will work as a System/Software Engineer within a highly collaborative research team, helping to develop the next generation of Model-Based Design tools. The focus will be on improving simulation, code generation, diagram generation, and engineering workflows through the integration of the latest Generative AI and Agentic AI technologies.

You will work alongside experienced engineers, researchers, and PhDs on innovative RD projects with direct application to future engineering software platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the technological evolution of proprietary Model-Based Design tools through AI-assisted engineering.
• Develop and integrate Agentic AI capabilities into existing engineering and software products.
• Improve large-scale simulation workflows, code generation, diagram generation, and automated test generation.
• Design and implement efficient AI agent architectures, including RAG, orchestration, tool calling, and multi-agent systems.
• Integrate LLM and AI technologies into existing engineering software environments.
• Analyse and optimise complex LLM pipelines, including latency, scalability, and token efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers, researchers, and system engineering teams.

Mandatory Requirements

• MSc in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. PhD preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of both Java and Python.
• Experience with AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Docling, PyTorch, or similar technologies.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, OpenCode, Codex, or similar tools.
• Experience with OpenAI API, MCP servers, and tool calling.
• Strong understanding of Agentic AI patterns, prompt engineering, and LLM-based workflows.
• Experience designing and building efficient multi-agent AI architectures, including:
  • RAG
  • orchestration
  • tool calling
  • integration with existing software products
• Experience analysing and optimising distributed LLM pipelines for scalability, latency, and token efficiency.
• Familiarity with Model-Based Engineering / Model-Based Design concepts such as UML, Simulink, Stateflow, or similar modeling environments.
• Knowledge of software testing, particularly regression testing.
• Strong communication skills, initiative, teamwork, and a product-oriented mindset.
• Fluent English and comfortable working in an international, multicultural environment.
• Availability to travel within Europe and occasionally to China.

Nice to Have

• Experience with model-to-text, text-to-model, or model-to-model transformations.
• Experience with reinforcement learning, model quantisation, distillation, or fine-tuning.
• Experience with RTOS, embedded systems, control software, or automotive/vehicle software development.
• Strong C++ knowledge.
• Experience with the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF).
• Experience with MLOps and private LLM deployments, particularly using vLLM.
• Knowledge of CI/CD frameworks.
