Job description

Unifly Consulting is a specialized consultancy operating at the forefront of aviation safety, drone regulation, and airspace integration. We support public authorities, industry players, and research consortia worldwide through regulatory consultancy, research & innovation projects, and high‑level training, with a strong focus on UAS, UTM/U‑space, and emerging aviation concepts.

As our activities continue to grow—both in European R&D programmes and in operational regulatory support—we are looking for a motivated professional eager to contribute to the development of safe, scalable, and innovative drone operations.

The Role

We are seeking an Aeronautical Engineer (or equivalent technical profile) with a strong interest in UAS regulation, UTM/U‑space, and European R&D projects. You will work in a dynamic, international team, interacting with institutions, industry experts, and standardisation bodies, while progressively taking responsibility for complex technical and project‑management activities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical depth, regulatory reasoning, and real‑world impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and contribute to European R&D projects funded under programmes such as Horizon Europe and the European Defence Fund (EDF)
  • Provide regulatory and technical consultancy to clients on topics including: UAS flight authorisations (SORA, LUC), UAS certification (CE marking, Class identification), SAIL III compliance
  • Support to rulemaking and regulatory development
  • Actively participate in international working groups and standardisation activities (e.g. ISO, EUROCAE)
  • Collaborate with civil aviation authorities, industry stakeholders, and research partners across Europe and beyond
  • Contribute to internal knowledge development, methodologies, and best practices within the company

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a technical or scientific discipline (e.g. Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering, Engineering, Air Transport, Physics, Mathematics)
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with high autonomy, precision, and a proactive mindset
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Curiosity, flexibility, and a strong willingness to learn and grow quickly in a fast‑evolving sector

Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications

  • Previous experience in EU‑funded R&D projects (e.g. as Project Manager or Work Package contributor)
  • Regulatory experience in the UAS sector, including: SORA methodology, UAS authorisation and/or certification processes, UTM / U‑space concepts and implementation
  • Professional working knowledge of Spanish and/or German
  • Experience working with public authorities or international regulatory environments

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and responsibilities
  • Supplementary health insurance
  • Maximum flexibility in working hours
  • Hybrid (Rome office) or full‑remote working arrangements
  • Exposure to high‑profile European projects and international stakeholders
  • A truly international, innovative, and collaborative work environment
  • Rapid professional growth, with increasing responsibilities and impact as the company expands

Why Join Us?

At Unifly Consulting, you won’t just “support projects”—you will actively shape the future of drone regulation and airspace integration in Europe and beyond. If you are passionate about aviation safety, innovation, and regulatory frameworks that enable real‑world operations, this role offers both technical depth and long‑term career growth.
