Job summary

FLSmidth in Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu, is seeking a People Experience Partner to support day-to-day HR operations at the plant, drive employee welfare and lifecycle activities, and act as a bridge between shop-floor staff and the HR team to deliver a positive employee experience.

The role collaborates with Plant HR Head on industrial relations, compliance, contract labour, and workforce initiatives, including benefits administration, HRIS updates, and MIS reporting.

Qualifications

  • MLM / MSW in Human Resources or related discipline required.
  • 4–7 years of HR experience in manufacturing/plant environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with labour laws, industrial relations and employee welfare.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills; proficient MS Excel/PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle: manage day-to-day operations and lifecycle activities; coordinate payroll inputs and attendance.
  • Employee Welfare & Engagement: support welfare activities and wellbeing initiatives; address employee concerns.
  • Employee Relations & Industrial Relations: liaise with shop-floor teams and support disciplinary and ER processes.
  • Statutory Compliance & Regulatory Coordination: assist in audits, licenses, registrations, and statutory records.

Job description

Job Purpose

We are looking for a dynamic and people-oriented People Experience Partner to support the HR function at our manufacturing plant in Arakkonam. The role will be responsible for day-to-day HR operations, employee welfare, employee engagement, HR documentation, benefits administration and employee lifecycle activities at the plant. The role will also support the Plant HR Head in Industrial Relations, statutory compliance, contract labour management and workforce-related activities. The position will serve as an important interface between employees, contract workmen, supervisors and the HR team, ensuring timely resolution of employee queries and delivery of a positive employee experience at the plant

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Manage day-to-day HR operations for plant employees and support end-to-end employee lifecycle activities. Coordinate with Payroll and relevant stakeholders on attendance, leave, payroll inputs and employee-related queries. Support preparation of regular HR MIS and plant HR reports.

Employee Welfare & Engagement

Act as a point of contact for employee welfare-related matters and provide timely support to employees. Understand employee concerns and grievances and escape matters appropriately to the Plant HR Head. Coordinate employee welfare activities, celebrations, recognition initiatives and other plant-level employee engagement programmes. Maintain a positive and employee-friendly work environment while ensuring alignment with business requirements. Support awareness programmes relating to employee welfare, safety and wellbeing.

Employee Relations & Industrial Relations

Support Maintain regular interaction with employees and shop-floor teams to understand workplace concerns. Support disciplinary and employee-relations processes, documentation and follow-up as directed by the Plant HR Head.

Statutory Compliance & Regulatory Coordination

Support the Plant HR Head in ensuring compliance with applicable labour laws, employment regulations and factory-related requirements. Maintain required HR, employee welfare and statutory records and registers. Support preparation of documents and information required for statutory inspections, audits and reviews. Coordinate with relevant internal teams and external agencies for compliance-related activities. Assist in ensuring timely renewal, documentation and maintenance of relevant licences, registrations and records. Support liaison and coordination with statutory authorities and external agencies whenever required.

Contract Labour Management

Support the Plant HR Head in the administration and monitoring of contract labour. Coordinate with contractors regarding attendance, manpower deployment and employee documentation. Support monitoring of statutory compliance by contractors, including PF, ESI, wages, bonus and other applicable requirements.

Recruitment & Workforce Support

Support hiring of shopfloor, blue-collar and other plant positions based on manpower requirements. Coordinate with recruitment consultants, local sourcing channels, ITIs, skill centres and other sources as required. Assist in screening, interview coordination, selection documentation and joining formalities. Coordinate pre-employment documentation and Background Verification (BGV) processes for Pan India locations.

Background Verification & Employee Documentation

Liaise with BGV agencies and internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of verification. Track pending cases, follow up on exceptions and maintain appropriate records. Ensure employee documentation is complete, accurate and appropriately maintained.

Employee Benefits & Insurance Administration

Support Corporate People Experience team in administration of Group Medical Insurance, Group Personal Accident Insurance, Life Insurance and other applicable employee benefit programmes. Coordinate employee enrolment, additions, deletions and corrections under applicable benefit schemes. Support employees with insurance claims and coordinate with brokers, TPAs and service providers for resolution of queries and escalations. Support annual renewal and related employee communication activities.

HR MIS, Employee Communication & Audit Support

Prepare and maintain regular HR MIS relating to headcount, attendance, attrition, recruitment, employee movements, welfare activities and other plant HR metrics. Conduct or coordinate employee communication sessions and awareness programmes. Support internal and external HR audits and provide required documentation. Maintain appropriate records of vendor activities, audits and corrective actions.

Other Responsibilities

Undertake any other HR, employee welfare or plant-related responsibilities assigned by the reporting manager. The incumbent will be the designated Welfare Officer for the Arakkonam plant and will discharge the responsibilities of the Welfare Officer as applicable to the plant.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

MLM / MSW in Human Resources or a related discipline. 4-7 years of experience in HR, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial or plant environment. Freshers with relevant academic qualifications and strong interest in Plant HR / Employee Relations may also be considered. Exposure to labour laws, Industrial Relations or employee welfare will be an advantage. Strong interest in working closely with shop-floor employees and the plant workforce. Strong interpersonal, follow-up and coordination skills. Comfortable working with MS Excel, PowerPoint and HR systems. Knowledge of HRMS platforms such as Workday, SAP, Oracle, or PeopleSoft.
