Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Surat seeks a welding engineer to manage procedure preparation and ensure compliance with applicable codes. You will handle welding procedures for vessels and heat exchangers, monitor welding processes, and coordinate with shop floor teams to maintain quality and safety on site.

The role requires solid understanding of welding basics and metallurgy, effective communication, and the ability to implement new procedures to improve efficiency and reduce defects on the shop floor.

Job description

• Preparation of welding procedure and other related documents
• Knowledge of various welding processes (SMAW,SAW,GTAW,GMAW,FCAW,SASC,ESW etc)
• Awareness of various code and standard
• Good understanding of welding basics (preheat/interpass/DHT/ISR/PWHT/weld defect/distortion control/ welding consumable monitoring etc.
• Knowledge of pressure vessel and heat exchanger fabrication
• Knowledge of basic welding metallurgy of C-Mn, MnMoNi steel, stainless steel, nickel based alloys etc and various type of heat treatment
• Perform root cause analysis for weld/base metal failure and suggest corrective actions accordingly
• Developing & implementing new welding procedure, technique or technology
• Shop surveillance for welding activities
• Should have good verbal and written communication skill
