Job summary

Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) is seeking a Welding Engineer to prepare welding procedures and related documents, and to oversee welding processes across fabrication projects. The role requires knowledge of SMAW, SAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SASC, ESW, among others, and awareness of applicable codes and standards.

The candidate should have a BE in Welding Engineering and a solid understanding of welding metallurgy, heat treatment, and related testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Welding Engineering.
• Knowledge of welding processes such as SMAW, SAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SASC, ESW, etc.
• Awareness of various codes and standards.
• Understanding of welding basics: preheat/interpass/DHT/ISR/PWHT, distortion control, welding consumables monitoring.

• Preparation of welding procedures and related documents.
• Developing and implementing new welding procedures, techniques or technologies.
• Knowledge of pressure vessel and heat exchanger fabrication.
• Perform root cause analysis for weld/base metal failure and propose corrective actions.

Job Description

- Preparation of welding procedure and other related documents

- Knowledge of various welding processes (SMAW,SAW,GTAW,GMAW,FCAW,SASC,ESW etc)

- Awareness of various code and standard

- Good understanding of welding basics (preheat/interpass/DHT/ISR/PWHT/weld defect/distortion control/ welding consumable monitoring etc.

- Knowledge of pressure vessel and heat exchanger fabrication

- Knowledge of basic welding metallurgy of C-Mn, MnMoNi steel, stainless steel, nickel based alloys etc and various type of heat treatment

- Perform root cause analysis for weld/base metal failure and suggest corrective actions accordingly

- Developing & implementing new welding procedure, technique or technology

- Shop surveillance for welding activities

- Should have good verbal and written communication skill
