Job summary

Karamtara Engineering is seeking a Welding Process Development & Control professional to lead welding procedure development and qualification for wind tower fabrication. You will select suitable welding processes (SAW, FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, GTAW) and establish welding parameters to meet mechanical and metallurgical specs.

Responsibilities include QA/compliance with AWS D1.1, EN ISO 15614, EN 1090, IEC standards; review drawings; and coordinate NDT and audits while supporting production on the shop

Qualifications

• Experience in developing welding procedures (WPS/PQR).
• Experience coordinating destructive and non-destructive testing.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, EN ISO 15614, EN 1090, IEC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, and optimize welding procedures for wind tower fabrication (WPS/PQR).
• Coordinate destructive and non-destructive testing for procedure qualification (PQR/WQTR).
• Ensure compliance with codes and standards; participate in audits and customer reviews.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

Welding Process Development & Control

• Develop, qualify, and optimize welding procedures (WPS/PQR) for wind tower fabrication.
• Select appropriate welding processes such as SAW, FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW.
• Establish welding parameters to achieve required mechanical and metallurgical properties.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications and international standards.
• Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and welding requirements.

2. Welding Procedure Qualification

• Prepare and maintain:
• Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
• Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
• Welder Qualification Records (WQTR/WPQ)
• Coordinate destructive and non-destructive testing for procedure qualification.
• Ensure valid qualifications are maintained as per project requirements.

3. Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards:
• AWS D1.1
• EN ISO 15614
• EN 1090
• IEC requirements
• Customer-specific specifications
• Monitor weld quality and ensure achievement of quality KPIs.
• Participate in internal and external audits.
• Address welding-related customer complaints and corrective actions.

4. Production Support

• Provide technical support to production teams.
• Resolve welding-related issues on the shop floor.
• Improve welding productivity and reduce cycle times.
• Optimize welding consumable usage and reduce rework.
• Support fabrication of:
• Tower shell sections
• Flanges
• Door frames
• Internal platforms and ladders

5. Welding Inspection & NDT Coordination

• Coordinate with QA/QC and NDT teams.
• Review welding inspection reports.
• Monitor:
• Visual Inspection (VT)
• Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
• Radiographic Testing (RT)
• Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
• Penetrant Testing (PT)
• Investigate weld defects and recommend corrective actions.
