Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a technical architect in Tamil Nadu to own solution architecture for a B2B eCommerce platform built on HCL Commerce/WebSphere Commerce v8, Next.js storefront, and Spring Boot services.

The role requires 10+ years in software engineering with 8+ years in WebSphere Commerce and Java/J2EE, and 5+ years in Spring Boot, REST/SOAP, and React/Next.js storefronts. Must be located in Tamil Nadu, India.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 8+ years of hands-on HCL Commerce/IBM WebSphere Commerce (v8).
• 8+ years of Java/J2EE development with WebSphere Application Server.
• 5+ years of Spring/Spring MVC and Spring Boot architecture experience.
• 5+ years designing and integrating REST and SOAP web services.
• Experience architecting React/Next.js storefront applications with API integration.

Responsibilities

• Own solution architecture for the B2B eCommerce platform across HCL WebSphere Commerce, Next.js storefront, and Spring Boot services.
• Lead dual-run migrations and large-scale integrations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across business and tech teams to ensure architecture quality and delivery.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in an Architect, Principal, or Staff-level design role supporting large-scale commerce platforms.

8+ years of hands-on HCL Commerce/IBM WebSphere Commerce (v8 required) experience, including customization, order/catalog management, and backend integrations.

8+ years of Java/J2EE development with strong object-oriented design experience; WebSphere Application Server preferred.

5+ years of Spring/Spring MVC and Spring Boot architecture experience, including APIs, microservices, resilience, and authentication.

5+ years designing and integrating REST and SOAP web services.

Experience architecting React/Next.js storefront applications, including routing, API integration, performance optimization, and TypeScript.

Strong experience with Git, Agile methodologies, and Atlassian tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence).

Proven expertise in B2B commerce architectures, including punchout, organizational hierarchies, contract pricing, and complex user models.

Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.

• Headless / composable commerce (API-first storefront, BFF, packaged capabilities). MuleSoft or similar iPaaS.
• Search (Solr or equivalent), cache (Redis or equivalent), CMS-driven storefront (Optimizely or equivalent) alongside a commerce engine.
• Cloud (GKE/Kubernetes or equivalent) for storefront and Spring Boot; WAS/IHS for Commerce.
• Security, PCI-adjacent payment flows, and session/identity across legacy and modern storefronts.
• Prior dual-run or large-scale commerce migration.
