Job summary

OUP is seeking a detail-oriented Web Operations contributor to support digital marketing across its Academic division. You will build and edit content on marketing pages using WordPress and PubFactory, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.

You will schedule live changes, support stakeholders across Marketing and Editorial, help maintain web documentation, and collaborate with the Web Operations Team Leader to deliver reliable, user-friendly pages.

Qualifications

  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with CMS tools.
  • Ability to copy-edit English content confidently and accurately.
  • Experience using content management systems to build or edit web pages.
  • Knowledge of web analytics and digital marketing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Independently schedule and maintain updates to existing web pages for consistency.
  • Manage live page changes with tools such as WordPress and PubFactory.
  • Provide first-line support to stakeholders by resolving inaccuracies or escalating issues.
  • Support marketing projects where web is a key component and help maintain documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Web Operations Team Leader and MSSO colleagues to ensure smooth delivery.

Job description

This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a key operational function that enables high‑quality digital marketing across OUP’s Academic division. As part of a collaborative and supportive Web Operations team, you will contribute to the smooth running, accuracy, and effectiveness of OUP’s marketing web presence.

You will be working within an organisation committed to delivering trusted academic content, and your work will directly support marketing initiatives that resonate with researchers, authors, and academic communities globally. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys detail‑oriented digital work, problem‑solving, and contributing to continuous improvement in web processes and tools.

With growing emphasis on digital experience and operational excellence, this position provides meaningful involvement in ongoing enhancements, exposure to CMS tools like WordPress and PubFactory, and opportunities to contribute to efficient, accurate, and user‑friendly marketing web pages.

Opportunity – the ‘what’
  • Build or edit content on marketing web pages using a Content Management System, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.
  • Independently schedule and maintain updates to existing web pages, guaranteeing the validity and consistency of all marketing content.
  • Manage live page changes confidently, using tools such as WordPress and PubFactory.
  • Provide first‑line support to stakeholders—including Marketing, Editorial, and Journal Societies—by resolving inaccuracies or escalating issues when required.
  • Support marketing projects where web is a key component, contributing to smooth delivery and timely implementation.
  • Help maintain and update documentation describing web operations processes, ensuring continuity and shared best practice across the team.
  • Collaborate closely with the Web Operations Team Leader and wider MSSO colleagues to ensure seamless operational delivery.

Impact of the role: Your work ensures that OUP’s marketing web pages remain accurate, functional, consistent, and aligned with OUP’s standards. By managing updates, correcting inaccuracies, and supporting stakeholders, you directly contribute to high‑quality digital marketing experiences across the Academic division.

  • Strong and proven IT skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to copy‑edit English confidently
  • Trusted team player with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to learn quickly and share knowledge with others
  • Experience using a Content Management System and/or building/editing web pages
  • Web marketing and web statistics knowledge
