Job summary

Lancesoft in Chennai seeks a Wiring Harness Designer to develop and route 3D harness layouts for automotive programs using CATIA V5 EHI/EHA. You will generate 2D drawings, BOMs, and pinouts while ensuring proper clearance and manufacturability.

The role requires 1–3 years’ experience in automotive harness design, strong CAD skills, and familiarity with ISO/SAE/DIN standards. Immediate joiner preferred and ability to work at client site.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech or Diploma in EEE, Mechanical or Automotive engineering required.
• 1–3 years of core experience in automotive wiring harness design.
• Proficient in CATIA V5 (EHI/EHA) or 3DEXPERIENCE.

Responsibilities

• 3D harness routing and design of wiring harnesses and components using CATIA V5 EHI/EHA.
• Generate 2D drawings, flat views, pinouts and BOMs with CATIA EHA.
• Ensure proper harness clearance, bend radius and thermal protection relative to chassis and cab.
• Select connectors, grommets, tubes and sleeves per OEM standards.
• Perform clash detection, DMU reviews and tolerance checks; resolve packaging constraints.
• Coordinate with Chassis, Powertrain, Cab Integration and Manufacturing at the client site (Ashok Leyland).
• Process ECR/ECO changes and maintain design revision history.

Key Responsibilities

• 3D Harness Routing: Design and route 3D wiring harnesses, branch lines, and electrical components using CATIA V5 Electrical Harness Discipline (EHI/EHA).
• 2D Drawing & Flattening: Generate 2D harness manufacturing drawings, flattened views, pinouts, and bill of materials (BOM) using CATIA EHA.
• Packaging & Clearance: Ensure proper harness clearance, bend radius, thermal protection, and anti-abrasion wrapping relative to chassis, engine, and cab structures.
• Component Selection: Select suitable connectors, terminals, grommets, clips, corrugated tubes, and protective sleeves per OEM standards.
• Design Verification: Conduct clash detection, DMU reviews, and tolerance checks; resolve packaging constraints and interference issues.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Chassis, Powertrain, Cab Integration, and Manufacturing) at the client site (Ashok Leyland) to validate harness installations.
• Change Management: Process Engineering Change Requests/Orders (ECR/ECO) and maintain design revision history.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Mechanical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.
• Experience: 1 to 3 years of core experience in automotive wiring harness design.
• CAD Tools: Proficient in CATIA V5 (specifically Electrical Harness Installation - EHI and Electrical Harness Assembly - EHA) or 3DEXPERIENCE.
• Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems, schematic reading, signal distribution, and harness manufacturing processes.
• Standards: Familiarity with automotive standards (ISO, SAE, DIN) for electrical wiring and routing guidelines.
• Notice Period: Immediate Joiner to 15 Days preferred
