Job summary

Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) is seeking a skilled CAD engineer with 6–8 years of hands-on experience in automotive wiring harness design and packaging. Proficiency in CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE EHD is essential, including harness routing, part modeling, and surface design.

You will collaborate with EESE, conduct design reviews, and drive optimized harness architectures to reduce weight and cost while ensuring EMC compliance. Strong communication and team collaboration are required.

Qualifications

• 6 to 8 years hands on experience working in automotive wiring harness design & packaging of electrical/electronic components.
• Extensive experience in CATIA V5 & 3DX (Electrical Harness Design, Part Modelling & Surface design).
• Ability to independently handle technical design reviews and articulate harness design challenges to engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Route wiring harnesses using CATIA V5/V6 and 3DEXPERIENCE platforms.
• Define optimized harness architectures and routing strategies to minimize weight and cost while meeting EMC requirements.
• Collaborate with EESE team to develop concepts and design proposals; conduct design reviews with engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Perform benchmarking and packaging studies on electrical/electronic modules and define locations in vehicle.
• Apply knowledge of Vehicle Architecture, Vehicle Aggregate Groups, Systems and Sub-Systems.
• Assess manufacturing feasibility, assembly and service feasibility.
• Communicate effectively with Program Stakeholders.
• Knowledge in Teamcenter Engineering & VisMockUp.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Expertise in defining optimized harness architectures and routing strategies that minimize weight and cost while ensuring full adherence to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the Electrical & Electronics Systems Engineering (EESE) team to develop concepts and design proposals.
  Ability to independently handle technical design reviews, articulating harness design challenges to engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders to develop robust solutions.
• Prior experience in performing benchmarking studies & packaging studies on electrical/electronic modules/systems and defining their locations in vehicle.
• Knowledge in Vehicle Architecture, Vehicle Aggregate Groups, Sub- Groups, Systems and Sub- Systems.
• Proficient in deciding manufacturing feasibility, assembly and service feasibility.
• Strong communication skill is mandatory to handle Program Stake Holders & Suppliers.
