DR Sundararajan Neuro Hospital in Tamil Nadu seeks an experienced Scrub Nurse to support operation theatres with patient preparation, instrument handling, aseptic technique, and perioperative care. You will assist surgeons, ensure sterility, maintain records, and participate in safety checks.

The ideal candidate has 2–7 years of scrub nursing experience, valid nursing registration, and the ability to work in rotation shifts and emergencies.

Formación

• GNM/B.Sc Nursing with valid State Nursing Council registration.
• 2–7 years of scrub nurse experience preferred.
• Experience in handling surgical instruments and assisting in major procedures.
• Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and infection control.
• Ability to work in emergency and high-pressure situations.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare the operation theatre, sterile instruments, surgical trays, and required equipment before procedures.
• Perform surgical hand scrubbing and follow proper gowning and gloving techniques.
• Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques throughout surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeons and surgical assistants by providing instruments, sutures, and other required materials.
• Verify the availability and sterility of surgical instruments, consumables, and equipment.
• Participate in surgical counts of instruments, needles, sponges, and other materials in coordination with the circulating nurse.
• Ensure compliance with surgical safety checklists and patient identification protocols.
• Monitor and maintain the sterile field throughout the procedure.
• Handle specimens appropriately and coordinate their safe transfer and labelling as per hospital policy.
• Assist in the safe handling and disposal of sharps and biomedical waste.
• Coordinate with surgeons, anaesthesiologists, circulating nurses, and other OT staff.
• Ensure proper handling and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Report any breach in sterile technique, equipment malfunction, or patient safety concern immediately.
• Maintain OT records, checklists, and documentation as required.
• Follow infection prevention and control policies, hospital SOPs, and applicable NABH standards.
• Participate in OT audits, training programmes, and quality improvement activities.

Preferred candidate profile

• GNM / B.Sc Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc Nursing.
• Valid registration with the relevant State Nursing Council is mandatory.
• Minimum 2- 7 years of experience in as scrub nurse is preferred.
• Experience in handling surgical instruments and assisting in major surgical procedures is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and infection control practices.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and OT protocols.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Ability to work efficiently in emergency and high-pressure situations.
• Willingness to work rotational shifts and emergency duties as required.
