Teleflo Instruments & Controls in Chennai seeks a motivated Junior Purchase Engineer to support procurement for safety valves, pressure relief valves, and other valve products. You will coordinate with suppliers, process RFQs, prepare POs, and ensure timely delivery while aligning with design and QC teams.

The role emphasizes reading drawings, BOMs, and maintaining vendor records, with a focus on learning technical procurement and quality documentation requirements.

Formación

• Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Experience in procurement or industrial valve manufacturing is a plus.

Job Description

Teleflo Instruments & Controls is looking for a motivated Junior Purchase Engineer to support procurement activities for Safety Valves, Pressure Relief Valves and other industrial valve products.

The selected candidate will be responsible for vendor coordination, material procurement, quotation comparison, purchase order processing and delivery follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and develop suppliers for engineering raw materials and components.
• Procure castings, forgings, stainless steel, alloy steel, pipes, rods, plates, fasteners, springs, gaskets and other industrial valve components.
• Send RFQs to suppliers and obtain competitive technical and commercial quotations.
• Prepare comparative statements and assist in price negotiations.
• Prepare purchase orders and follow up with suppliers for timely delivery.
• Coordinate with Design, Production, QC and Stores departments for material requirements.
• Verify purchased materials against approved specifications, drawings and BOMs.
• Coordinate with suppliers for Material Test Certificates (MTCs), EN 10204 3.1 certificates and relevant quality documents.
• Maintain purchase records, vendor databases, order status and procurement reports.
• Assist in supplier evaluation and vendor development.
• Follow up on rejected materials, replacements and pending deliveries.

Required Skills

• Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of ASTM, ASME and industrial material specifications is an advantage.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and Bills of Materials.
• Good communication, negotiation and vendor follow-up skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Office and purchase documentation.
• Experience in engineering procurement or industrial valve manufacturing preferred.

Preferred Candidate

• Candidates with 13 years of purchase experience in mechanical manufacturing industries.
• Knowledge of Chennai-based engineering suppliers, foundries, forging manufacturers and machining vendors.
• Willingness to learn technical procurement and quality documentation requirements.
