Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill/high-dependency patients.
• Monitor vitals, O2 sat, cardiac rhythm, neuro status, and other parameters.
• Operate ICU equipment: ventilators, monitors, pumps, defibrillators.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products per orders.
• Assess patients regularly and report deterioration promptly.
• Assist with procedures: intubation, central/arterial lines, CPR.
• Maintain accurate nursing notes, charts, and ICU documentation.
• Follow infection control, PPE, aseptic techniques, and waste management.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and high-dependency patients.
• Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, cardiac rhythm, neurological status, and other clinical parameters.
• Operate and monitor ICU equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, syringe pumps, and defibrillators.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other treatments as prescribed.
• Assess patients regularly and promptly report any deterioration or abnormal findings to the treating physician.
• Assist doctors with procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, arterial line placement, CPR, and other emergency interventions.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to medical emergencies and participate in Code Blue/CPR procedures.
• Maintain accurate nursing notes, medication records, patient charts, and ICU documentation.
• Follow infection-control practices, including hand hygiene, PPE use, aseptic techniques, and biomedical waste management.
• Provide appropriate care to patients on mechanical ventilation and other life-support systems.
• Maintain patient hygiene, nutrition, positioning, pressure-area care, and overall comfort.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their relatives while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
• Coordinate with doctors, respiratory therapists, technicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Ensure proper checking, handling, and availability of emergency drugs, equipment, and supplies.
• Follow hospital policies, nursing protocols, patient-safety standards, and ethical guidelines.
• Participate in handovers, clinical audits, training programs, and continuing nursing education.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized ICU environment.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing / GNM from a recognized institution.
• Valid registration with the relevant State Nursing Council.
• ICU/critical-care training or certification is preferred.
• Previous experience in ICU, Critical Care, HDU, Emergency, or other acute-care settings is preferred.
