Job summary

The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) invites walk-in applicants for the post of Project Research Assistant to work on the Indian Monsoon project at its Bangalore office. The role is computational and theoretical, demanding strong mathematical and programming skills.

Candidates should have B Tech or MSc with an exceptional academic record and familiarity with fluid mechanics, atmosphere and ocean processes, and stochastic methods. Immediate joining is expected.

Job description

The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), a premier research centre (an Autonomous, Grant-in-Aid Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India), invites highly motivated and self-driven individuals for a walk-in recruitment for the post of Project Research Assistant to work on a project ‘Indian Monsoon’ at its Bangalore office.

The candidates should have the following qualifications and experience:

Position

B Tech in Chemical / Mechanical / Civil or related subject or M Sc in Physics or a related subject

A very strong academic record

Expertise in computing

Familiarity with nonlinear dynamics and related topics

An interest in basic research and ability to commit one year to this project

Knowledge of fluid mechanics

Familiarity with atmosphere and ocean processes

Familiarity with probability and stochastic processes

Job Profile: The project offers excellent opportunities for fundamental research. The study will be computational and theoretical, and will involve study of the Indian monsoon. The ideal project assistant will be extremely strong academically, especially in mathematics and scientific computation.

Salary: Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualifications, potential and according to the Centre’s norms. The selected candidate will be required to join immediately.
