International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), a premier research centre (an Autonomous, Grant-in-Aid Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India) is looking for highly motivated and self-driven individuals for appointment to the post of Administrative Assistant (B) at its Bangalore Office. The candidates should have the following qualifications and experience:

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Graduate degree with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate
• 5 years of experience in General Admin/ Establishment in a similar or larger academic/research institution, in the relevant job profile (detailed below)
• Knowledge of use of personal computers and applications in professional work.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Post Graduate degree preferably in Sciences and Mathematics from a reputed institution;
• Work experience in dealing with administrative matters viz. Government of India rules & procedures, in a medium /large sized organization, preferably an academic/research institution

Job Profile

This job involves providing administrative support for all the academic activities of the Centre.

This broadly includes providing administrative assistance to

• the office of Dean (Faculty & Students affairs) - day-to-day secretarial needs, compiling reports/documents as per TIFR formats, documentation of official communication, etc
• the Students & Postdoctoral Fellows unit - selection procedure for graduate students, project and summer students, post-docs; information & logistics for courses and seminar; etc
• the visitors and all academic members - day-to-day secretarial needs and logistics
• assisting with organization of academic activities of the Centre as and when required
• allied administration works
• Good communication and writing skills are essential for this.

Scale of Pay

PB 2 (Rs. 9300 – 34800) with Grade Pay Rs. 4200

33 years (as on 1.1.2016) = born on or after 01 Jan 1983

General Information

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria for essential qualifications and experience will have to appear for a selection process. The final selection will be based on the overall performance in this process.

Higher starting salary could be considered for deserving candidate.

Appointment for the post will be for an initial period of one year. Continuing appointment beyond the initial period will be subject to the results of a comprehensive review and performance appraisal.
