Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year WC AR experience in US medical billing
• Experience verifying WC coverage and claim information
• Familiar with CMS-1500, CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and modifiers
• Proficient in Excel for data filters, sorting and basic formulas

Responsibilities

• AR follow-up on WC claims, aging, unpaid claims, denials and appeals
• Handle verification of WC coverage and claim information
• Process EOB/ERA, underpayments and adjustments
• Maintain detailed call notes and follow-up documentation
• Communicate with payers/TPA portals via phone, portal, fax, email

Total experience

1-5 years minimum in US medical billing/AR

Workers' Compensation experience

At least 1 year preferred/required for experienced WC AR

AR experience

Insurance AR follow-up, aging, unpaid claims, denials and appeals

Eligibility/verification

Experience verifying WC coverage and claim information

Claims knowledge

CMS-1500, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, modifiers

WC knowledge

Claim number, date of injury, employer, adjuster, attorney information, authorization, compensability and claim status

Follow-up

Phone, payer/TPA portal, fax, email and written correspondence

Denials

Ability to identify denial reason, correct claim, rebill and appeal

Payment review

EOB/ERA, underpayments, adjustments and outstanding balances

Documentation

Detailed call notes and follow-up documentation

Systems

EMR/PM system, clearinghouse and payer/TPA portals

Excel

Filters, sorting, basic formulas; Pivot/VLOOKUP preferred

Communication

Good English verbal and written communication

Shift

Willingness to work in US business/night shift,
