Position: EHS Officer (Health, Safety & Environment)

Experience: 2 to 5 Years
Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Safety, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant field
Reporting To: HSE Manager / Plant Head
Job Purpose
To ensure a safe and healthy working environment by implementing HSE policies, conducting inspections and risk assessments, ensuring statutory compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor company Health, Safety & Environment policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular plant safety inspections, workplace audits, and safety rounds.
- Identify hazards and conduct Risk Assessments / JSA / HIRA for various activities.
- Monitor compliance with applicable Factories Act, safety regulations, environmental requirements, and other statutory provisions.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions and prepare corrective/preventive action reports.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety training, induction training, and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and monitor PPE compliance across the plant.
- Monitor fire safety systems, emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures, and conduct mock drills.
- Maintain HSE records, inspection reports, training records, incident reports, and statutory documents.
- Coordinate with various departments for closure of safety audit observations and corrective actions.
- Monitor safe working practices for work at height, hot work, confined space, electrical work, lifting activities, and maintenance activities.
- Implement and monitor Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
- Support emergency response activities and ensure availability of emergency equipment.
- Monitor environmental aspects such as waste management, chemical handling, pollution control, and housekeeping.
- Coordinate with external agencies, auditors, consultants, and government authorities whenever required.
- Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly HSE reports and MIS to management.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and zero-accident mindset throughout the organization.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of Industrial Safety and HSE practices.
- Knowledge of HIRA, JSA, Risk Assessment and Incident Investigation.
- Knowledge of Fire & Safety, Emergency Response and Disaster Management.
- Knowledge of PPE and Permit-to-Work systems.
- Good understanding of applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Good communication and training skills.
- Ability to conduct safety audits and prepare documentation.
- Good MS Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong observation, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
