Job summary

Thakral One is seeking an experienced VMware Operations & Support Engineer to manage day-to-day VMware infrastructure, cloud foundations, and storage. The role covers production, DR, and UAT environments within a demanding enterprise setting.

You will handle ESXi/vCenter, VCF, VxRail, and automation tasks, ensuring security, compliance, and efficient incident resolution across multi-domain platforms. The candidate should be adept at problem-solving and stakeholder coordination.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of VMware infrastructure operations experience.
• Hands-on with ESXi 7.x/8.x, vCenter, vSphere HA, DRS, vMotion, HCX Migration.
• Experience with Dell VxRail or similar HCI platforms.
• Familiar with ITIL-based operational processes.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments.
• Manage VMware clusters, HA, DRS, vMotion, and Storage vMotion.
• Perform VM provisioning, decommissioning, and lifecycle management.
• Monitor and optimise platform performance and capacity.
• Conduct routine health checks and preventive maintenance.
• Operate and support VMware Cloud Foundation environments.
• Manage SDDC-Manager, Management Domain, and Workload Domains.
• Perform lifecycle management including patching, upgrades, and compliance remediation.
• Troubleshoot issues across compute, storage, and network layers.
• Provide L2/L3 support for virtualization incidents.
• Troubleshoot ESXi hosts, vCenter, VM performance, and infrastructure issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
• Participate in major incident and disaster recovery activities.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and cyber hygiene requirements.
• Support vulnerability remediation and security patching.
• Maintain RBAC permissions and privileged access controls.
• Support audit requests and compliance reviews.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerCLI and PowerShell.
• Support monitoring platforms such as VMware Aria Operations.
• Automate operational tasks to improve efficiency.
• Create and maintain dashboards and reports.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation.

Job description

As a VMware Operations & Support Engineer, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day administration, support, maintenance, and optimisation of enterprise virtualisation platforms. You will ensure the availability, performance, security, and compliance of VMware infrastructure, supporting mission‑critical business applications across production, DR, and UAT environments.

What You’ll Do and How You’ll Succeed

VMware Infrastructure Operations

• Administer and support VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments.
• Manage VMware clusters, HA, DRS, vMotion, and Storage vMotion.

• Work with vendors for incident resolution and hardware replacement.

Incident & Problem Management

• Provide L2/L3 support for virtualisation incidents.
• Troubleshoot ESXi hosts, vCenter, VM performance, and infrastructure issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.

Security & Compliance

Experience

• You have 5+ years of VMware infrastructure operations experience.
• You have strong hands‑on experience with VMware ESXi 7.x/8.x, vCenter, vSphere HA, DRS, vMotion, and HCX Migration.
• You have experience supporting Dell VxRail or equivalent HCI platforms.
• You have worked in enterprise or financial‑services environments.
• You are familiar with ITIL‑based operational processes.

Technical Expertise

• You are proficient in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
• You have experience with PowerCLI/PowerShell automation.
• You are skilled in troubleshooting site systems, VM performance, and infrastructure issues.
• You understand endpoint security, vulnerability management, and compliance.
• You have knowledge of enterprise storage and networking concepts.
• You have experience with ServiceNow and monitoring platforms.
