Job summary

People Impact urgently seeks a Senior VMware Engineer to design, implement, operate, and optimize VMware Cloud Foundation environments in enterprise settings. You will lead VCF, vSphere, vSAN, NSX‑T, and SDDC initiatives, driving automation, security, and DR readiness across the stack.

The role requires hands-on experience with VCF lifecycle management, workload domain operations, and policy-driven storage and networking. Strong collaboration with architecture and security teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, implementing, and supporting VMware vSphere in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical expert for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere, vSAN, NSX‑T, and SDDC platforms.
• Design, deploy, configure, upgrade, maintain, and troubleshoot VCF environments and components.
• Manage VCF Lifecycle Manager, platform upgrades, patching, and workload domain operations.
• Establish enterprise VMware standards, security hardening, procedures, and best practices.
• Design and support disaster recovery, capacity planning, performance optimization, and high‑availability solutions.
• Implement and manage vSAN storage policies, HCI environments, and performance optimization.
• Configure and troubleshoot NSX‑T distributed networking and security policies.
• Integrate VCF with enterprise hardware, automation tools, and hybrid cloud platforms.
• Monitor infrastructure health, identify bottlenecks, and drive improvements for reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects, security, and cloud teams to meet business and compliance requirements.
• Develop automation using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Bash, and/or Python to improve operations.
• Provide leadership, documentation, and knowledge transfer to infrastructure teams.
• Mentor junior engineers on VCF architecture and VMware best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical expert for infrastructure projects involving VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere, vSAN, NSX‑T, and SDDC platforms.
• Design, deploy, configure, upgrade, maintain, and troubleshoot VCF environments, workload domains, vCenter, ESXi hosts, vSAN clusters, and NSX‑T networking.
• Manage VCF Lifecycle Manager (LCM), platform upgrades, patching, configuration, and workload domain operations.
• Establish and maintain enterprise VMware virtualization standards, security hardening, operational procedures, and best practices.
• Design and support disaster recovery, business continuity, capacity planning, performance optimization, and high‑availability solutions.
• Implement and manage vSAN storage policies, HCI environments, storage capacity, and performance optimization.
• Configure and troubleshoot NSX‑T distributed networking, security policies, microsegmentation, and virtual network services.
• Integrate VMware VCF with enterprise hardware, HCI platforms, automation tools, identity services, and public/hybrid cloud platforms.
• Monitor infrastructure health and performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements to scalability, reliability, availability, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects, networking, security, systems, and cloud teams to ensure infrastructure solutions meet business, security, and compliance requirements.
• Develop and maintain automation using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Bash, and/or Python to improve operational efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership, troubleshooting support, documentation, and knowledge transfer to infrastructure teams.
• Mentor junior engineers on VCF architecture, VMware best practices, troubleshooting, and operational processes.
• Participate in technology evaluations and maintain awareness of VMware/Broadcom product roadmaps, licensing changes, and virtualization industry trends

Minimum Qualifications

• BS/MS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting VMware vSphere environments in enterprise‑scale deployments.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, including lifecycle management and workload domain operations.
• 5+ years of experience with NSXT, including distributed networking, security policies, and microsegmentation.
• Strong experience with vSAN deployment, storage policy management, and HCI capacity planning.
• Proven background supporting/administering Windows and/or Linux.
• Deep knowledge of enterprise directory and authentication services (AD, DNS, DHCP, MFA, Group Policy, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• VMware certifications such as VCPDCV, VCAPDCV, VCPNV, or VCF Specialist.
• Experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Powershell, PowerCLI, bash shell and/or python.
• Experience with Citrix technologies (Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, XenApp/XenDesktop).
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud VMware platforms (VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution, Google Cloud VMware Engine).
• Knowledge of Kubernetes platforms (Tanzu, AKS, EKS) within VCF environments.
• Experience with enterprise hardware platforms (Dell VxRail, HPE Synergy, Cisco ,UCS).
• Experience with Proxmox VE or related open‑source virtualization platforms.
