Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Vitreoretina Surgeon and Cataract Surgeon based at ASG Eye Hospital in Siliguri. The role involves performing vitreoretinal surgeries, cataract surgeries, and related ophthalmic procedures while ensuring high standards of patient safety and clinical outcomes. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive eye examinations, interpreting diagnostic imaging, managing pre- and post-operative care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary eye care team. The surgeon will participate in case discussions, contribute to clinical protocols, and may support training or mentoring of junior clinicians. Active involvement in continuous learning, adherence to ethical clinical practices, and participation in hospital quality improvement initiatives are expected.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Ophthalmology, with advanced clinical and surgical expertise relevant to vitreoretina and cataract care.
• Competence in general Medicine as it relates to comprehensive patient evaluation and perioperative management.
• Broad understanding of Surgery principles, including sterile techniques, operative planning, and post-operative care.
• Exposure to or basic knowledge of Orthopedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery is beneficial for multidisciplinary trauma and orbital case management.
• Recognized medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (MS/MD/DNB or equivalent), with fellowship or specialized training in vitreoretina preferred.
• Valid medical registration and eligibility to practice in India.
• Proficiency in using modern ophthalmic diagnostic and surgical equipment, including phacoemulsification and retina surgery platforms.
• Strong communication skills, ethical clinical judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively in a high-volume, quality-focused eye care setting.
