Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field is essential.
  • B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification is required.
  • Significant leadership experience in a CBSE school environment.

  • Ability to lead academic planning and teacher development initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead academic planning meetings and drive curriculum delivery across grades.
  • Mentor teachers, coordinators and staff; monitor performance and conduct.
  • Oversee student development, attendance and discipline with a supportive approach.
  • Engage with parents through PTMs and academic interactions.
  • Coordinate school operations and ensure safeguarding and safety compliance.

Role & responsibilities
Academic Leadership
  • Ensure effective implementation of the CBSE curriculum, school academic plan and assessment framework.
  • Monitor lesson planning, classroom teaching, assessments and student learning outcomes.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback and coaching to teachers.
  • Analyse student performance and implement strategies to address learning gaps and improve outcomes.
  • Promote foundational literacy and numeracy, experiential learning and competency-based education.
  • Ensure consistency in curriculum delivery, academic documentation and classroom expectations across grades.
  • Lead academic planning meetings, reviews and teacher-development initiatives.
Teacher Leadership & Development
  • Guide, mentor and support teachers, coordinators and other academic staff.
  • Monitor teacher performance, punctuality, classroom effectiveness and professional conduct.
  • Identify training needs and support continuous professional development.
  • Participate in teacher recruitment, induction, allocation of responsibilities and performance reviews.
  • Build a collaborative, accountable and positive professional culture within the Primary Section.
Student Development & Discipline
  • Ensure a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment for students.
  • Oversee student discipline, attendance, behaviour.
  • Work with teachers and parents to address academic, behavioural or emotional concerns.
  • Promote values, responsibility, confidence, independence and positive student behaviour.
  • Ensure appropriate support for students with different learning needs.
Parent Engagement
  • Build strong and professional relationships with parents.
  • Oversee PTMs, parent orientations and academic interactions.
  • Address parent concerns promptly and appropriately in coordination with teachers and school leadership.
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication between the school and families.
School Operations & Responsibilities
  • Support the Principal in the day-to-day administration and smooth functioning of the school.
  • Oversee assemblies, substitutions, teacher duties, student supervision, dispersal and section schedules.
  • Coordinate examinations, assessments, report cards and result-related processes.
  • Lead and support school events, annual functions, celebrations, competitions, trips, exhibitions and House activities.
  • Monitor registers, lesson plans, student records and other required school documentation.
  • Support admissions, parent interactions, orientations and student onboarding when required.
  • Coordinate effectively with administration, transport, safety, support staff and other departments.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies related to safeguarding, child protection, discipline, health and safety, and professional conduct.
  • Represent the Principal and manage the Primary Section independently when required.

Preferred candidate profile

Essential
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • B.Ed. or recognised teaching qualification.
  • Significant teaching and academic leadership experience in a CBSE school.
  • Strong understanding of primary education, child development and CBSE academic practices.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and manage teachers effectively.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to analyse academic performance and drive improvement.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and decision-making abilities.
  • Confident with educational technology and school-management systems.
  • Professional, approachable, accountable and student-focused leadership style.
Preferred
  • Previous experience as a Vice Principal, Head of Primary, Academic Coordinator or Senior Coordinator.
  • Experience leading Pre-Primary and/or Primary grades.
  • Familiarity with NEP 2020, NCF, FLN and competency-based learning.
  • Experience in teacher recruitment, observations, appraisals and professional development.
  • Strong experience handling parent communication and school operations.
