Role Overview
The Vice President – Operations will be a core leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence across the entire student lifecycle while owning P&L performance, scalability, and service quality.
This role requires a rare combination of strategic thinking, hands-on execution, strong people leadership, and data-driven decision-making. The VP – Operations will work closely with the Founder, leadership team, and cross-functional heads to build systems and teams capable of supporting rapid, sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Operations Leadership
- Lead and scale operations across:
- Admissions & enrollments
- Program delivery & academic operations
- Ensure a seamless, high-quality student lifecycle from enrollment to completion and placement.
- Own the operations P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, cost optimization, and margin improvement.
- Drive unit economics across centers, programs, and delivery models.
- Partner with Finance to ensure strong financial discipline and scalability.
- Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with Elance’s growth and expansion plans.
- Drive and monitor key metrics including:
- Enrollments & admissions efficiency
- Retention and completion rates
- Operational cost ratios and productivity
- Build dashboards and MIS frameworks for real-time visibility and decision-making.
Process, Systems & Automation
- Establish and continuously refine SOPs, governance frameworks, and quality standards across functions.
- Lead process improvements and automation across CRM, LMS, ERP, and internal workflows.
- Ensure systems are scalable for multi-center, hybrid, and international expansion.
- Build, mentor, and manage senior leaders and large cross-functional teams across locations.
- Drive performance culture, accountability, and leadership development.
- Partner with HR on org design, capability building, and succession planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Academics, Product, Finance, HR, and IT teams to align execution with business goals.
- Act as the single point of accountability for operational execution across departments.
Governance, Compliance & Risk
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, academic quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify operational risks and proactively design mitigation and contingency plans.
- Maintain high standards of ethics, transparency, and student trust.
Qualifications & Experience
- 15–20 years of experience in Operations, General Management, or Business Leadership roles.
- Proven experience in end-to-end high-volume sales and operations management.
- Prior experience in EdTech, education, or high-growth startups strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ownership of P&L and large, multi-layered teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Proven track record of scaling operations in fast-paced, growth environments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
