Job summary

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles in India is seeking a Vehicle Intelligence Engineer to own the full lifecycle of technology scouting, concept design, 3D modelling, prototype integration and testing. You will translate global trends into vehicle‑intelligence concepts for logistics, yard, depot, mining, port and construction applications.

You will collaborate with vehicle engineering, software, validation, manufacturing and external partners to deliver functional prototypes and validation setups.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical, Mechatronics, EEE, ECE, Automobile, Robotics or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of automobile technology, vehicle systems and interfaces.
• Hands‑on experience from problem definition to a functional prototype.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawings.
• Exposure to component selection, sensor/actuator integration and testing.
• Familiarity with autonomous systems, ADAS, cameras, LiDAR, ROS workflows.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, and data-driven workflows.
• Understanding of HMI, data acquisition, simulation, and cybersecurity concepts.
• Ability to own deliverables and communicate complex topics clearly.

Vehicle Intelligence Engineer Role in Mobility/Vehicle Technology Group India will own the full lifecycle of technology scouting, concept design, 3D modelling, prototype integration, testing and stakeholder demonstration. You will translate global trends and start‑up innovations into functional vehicle‑intelligence concepts for logistics, yard, depot, mining, port and construction applications, collaborating across vehicle engineering, software, validation, manufacturing and external partners.

• Manage an end‑to‑end technology research or PoC project with defined scope, milestones, risks and measurable success criteria.
• Analyse global technology trends, start‑ups, patents, publications and competitor solutions for relevance to DICV.
• Apply design thinking to capture customer/driver needs, frame problems and generate feasible concept alternatives.
• Develop system concepts, functional architectures, packaging proposals, 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and prototype parts.
• Integrate mechanical, electrical, electronic, sensing, control and software elements into functional demonstrators.
• Plan and conduct experiments, establish baselines, analyse data, troubleshoot failures and optimise concepts through iterative design‑build‑test‑learn cycles.
• Coordinate with vehicle engineering, E/E, software, validation, manufacturing, procurement, IP, suppliers, start‑ups and academic partners.
• Document findings, risks, limitations and recommendations; create reusable engineering knowledge and technology‑transfer packages.
• Deliver a functional prototype or validated experimental setup against an agreed milestone plan and provide evidence‑based recommendations for continuation, modification, transfer or termination.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical, Mechatronics, EEE, ECE, Automobile, Robotics or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of automobile technology, vehicle systems and mechanical, electrical, electronic and software interfaces.
• Hands‑on experience in research, experimentation and proof‑of‑concept development, with at least one idea taken from problem definition to a functional prototype.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling, part and assembly design, basic packaging and engineering drawings.
• Practical exposure to component selection, fabrication/additive manufacturing, sensor/actuator integration, assembly, testing and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with autonomous systems, ADAS, cameras, radar, LiDAR, ultrasonic sensors and embedded controllers (CAN/LIN/Ethernet).
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, ROS and computer‑vision or machine‑learning workflows.
• Understanding of HMI, data acquisition, vehicle simulation, functional safety or cybersecurity concepts.
• Ability to independently own deliverables, work across disciplines and communicate complex technical topics clearly.
