Job summary

Open Venture in India seeks an experienced US Accountant / Finance Operations professional based in India to manage accounting, US tax coordination, payments, collections, and day-to-day financial operations for our US-based businesses.

This hands-on role requires ownership of the finance function beyond bookkeeping, close collaboration with US teams and CPAs, and a proactive approach to disputes, reconciliations, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Based in India with 3+ years of accounting or finance operations experience.
• Strong experience handling accounting for US-based companies and US tax requirements.
• Experience with US tax preparation or directly supporting US CPA/tax filings.
• Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; excellent English communication.
• Familiarity with platforms like Rho, Mercury, Brex, Ramp, Zoho, Stripe; Stripe dispute handling.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting for US entities.
• Maintain accurate P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and general ledger records.
• Support and coordinate US federal and state tax filings, including working with external CPAs when needed.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Own collections and follow-up on outstanding invoices.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, payment processors, and financial platforms.
• Handle Stripe disputes, chargebacks, evidence submissions, and dispute tracking.
• Monitor incoming payments and investigate failed, delayed, or unmatched transactions.
• Manage vendor payments, employee expenses, reimbursements, and corporate cards.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close.
• Maintain supporting documentation for transactions and financial records.
• Prepare financial reports and management dashboards.
• Help improve accounting controls, reconciliation processes, and finance workflows.
• Coordinate with leadership, CPAs, vendors, customers, banks, and payment processors as needed.

Requirements

• Based in India
• 3+ years of accounting or finance operations experience
• Strong experience handling accounting for US-based companies
• Working knowledge of US accounting and tax requirements
• Experience with US tax preparation or directly supporting US CPA/tax filings
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping, reconciliations, AP, AR, and financial reporting
• Experience with several of the following platforms is strongly preferred:
• Rho, Mercury, Brex, Ramp, Zoho, Zen Payments, Stripe
• Experience handling Stripe disputes and chargebacks
• Experience with collections / accounts receivable follow-up
• Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills
• High attention to detail and ability to independently investigate discrepancies
• Comfortable working with US-based teams and overlapping with US business hours when required
• Excellent written and spoken English

Nice to Have

• CA, CPA, CMA, ACCA, or similar accounting qualification
• Experience working with startups or fast-growing US companies
• Experience managing multiple US entities
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or Zoho Books
• Experience with payroll, 1099s, W-2 coordination, sales tax, and state filings
• Experience improving or automating finance workflows

What We’re Looking For

We want someone who is proactive and operational. You should be comfortable noticing that an invoice is overdue, a Stripe dispute needs a response, a transaction does not reconcile, or a tax deadline is coming up and taking ownership of getting it resolved.

This is a high-ownership role with significant responsibility across the company's accounting and finance operations.
