Description

This role is a key member of the corporate finance and accounting team, responsible for leading the financial reporting team and overseeing both the treasury and taxation functions. It requires close collaboration with the US finance department, supporting their initiatives and managing processes assigned to the India team.

The candidate must bring strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership capability, and operational discipline to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality financial reporting and execution.

This role works closely with the US corporate finance and accounting department to develop and implement strategic plans while maintaining a strong focus on execution, process improvement, and team development.

Success in this position requires a leader who can think strategically, communicate clearly and concisely, manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment, and dive into details to resolve complex issues and drive results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of long-term strategic plans that support the vision and objectives of the overall team (US India).
  • Collaborate with US managers and the India Department Manager to establish and execute strategic plans that advance organizational goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals in India supporting US operations by setting clear expectations, driving accountability, providing coaching, and creating strong development paths that improve engagement and retention.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment with strong cross‑functional partnership and effective communication across US and India teams.
  • Provide ongoing mentoring and constructive feedback and conduct annual performance reviews for team members.
  • Drive innovation through automation, AI‑enabled tools, digital solutions, and process standardization to improve reporting quality, efficiency, and reduce manual effort.
  • Identify process gaps, root causes, and inefficiencies; develop practical solutions and drive continuous improvement across workflows, procedures, and service delivery.
  • Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, retention, onboarding, training, and staff development.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress, drive accountability, and support continuous improvement. Prepare and present performance reports to leadership.
  • Represent the team in meetings and presentations with confidence and executive presence, clearly communicating team priorities, risks, and accomplishments.
  • Encourage continuous learning and professional development within the team.
  • Oversee and review the preparation and posting of journal entries and ensure timely, accurate month‑end and quarter‑end close activities.
  • Oversee and ensure timely and accurate completion of balance sheet reconciliations, while driving ownership and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Support strong internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance with financial reporting requirements, company policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the treasury team’s execution of functions assigned by the US treasury team, including corporate credit card administration and reporting.
  • Oversee the taxation team’s completion of tasks assigned by the US taxation team, including support for international, state, and local tax returns for US and international entities.
  • Apply sound business judgment, creativity, and foresight to anticipate issues, remove obstacles, and solve problems proactively.
  • Balance strategic leadership with a willingness to dive into details, understand root causes, and resolve complex financial and operational issues when needed.
  • Occasional travel to the US may be required.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or MBA from premier institutions strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 9 – 12 years of relevant experience, including supervisory or management roles.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, with experience in financial reporting, close processes, reconciliations, and understanding of US GAAP principles strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to build, develop, motivate, and retain high‑performing teams.
  • Strong coach and people manager who sets clear expectations, drives accountability, and develops talent effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy and execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with sound business judgment and decision‑making ability.
  • Ability to think strategically while also diving into details to understand issues and drive effective resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership and US business partners.
  • Strong cross‑functional collaborator who builds strategic partnerships, proactively resolves conflicts, and drives alignment across teams.
  • Proven track record of driving transformation, process improvement, and organizational change.
