Catalyst Partners in Ahmedabad is seeking a Senior US Accountant to manage job cost accounting and project financials for US-based construction clients. You will own job cost reporting, WIP schedules, and billing accuracy while collaborating with US project managers.

Responsibilities include maintaining job cost ledgers, preparing WIP, tracking subcontractor costs, reviewing variances, handling construction AP and retainage, and performing month-end close under US GAAP.

Qualificações

• Bachelor or Master degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance.
• 5+ years US accounting experience, 3+ years in construction.
• Experience with job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion revenue.
• Knowledge of retainage, progress billing, and change order accounting.
• Advanced QuickBooks usage.
• Strong Excel skills (Pivot, lookups, reconciliations).
• Excellent written and spoken English.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to manage job cost accounting and project financials for US-based construction and contracting clients. You will own job cost reporting, WIP schedules, and billing accuracy, and work directly with US project managers and controllers.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile job cost ledgers across multiple active construction projects.
• Prepare and review monthly WIP schedules, including cost-to-complete, over/under billing, and percentage-of-completion calculations.
• Track subcontractor costs, commitments, pay applications and lien waivers.
• Review job cost variances against budget and flag margin erosion to project teams.
• Handle construction AP, including subcontractor invoices, retainage payable, and compliance documents.
• Support certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting where applicable.
• Perform month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and journal entries under US GAAP.
• Identify process improvements and support system migrations or reporting automation.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance.
• 5+ years of US accounting experience, including 3+ years in construction or contracting.
• Hands-on experience with job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Strong working knowledge of retainage, progress billing, and change order accounting
• Experience with accounting system - QuickBooks (advanced level).
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations).
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working with U.S.-based companies, particularly in home services, construction industries, roofing, pest control, HVAC and landscaping, along with hands-on expertise in cash-to-accrual accounting, job costing, and class tagging.
• Familiarity with operational reporting metrics with ability to create trend charts and graphs for management reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with equipment costing, bonding, or multi-entity consolidation.
• Experience with ASC 606 as applied to construction contracts.
• Exposure to certified payroll, prevailing wage, and union reporting.
• Experience working with US clients in an offshore, GCC, or BPO setup.
