Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Bengaluru is seeking a Cable Designer to prepare designs and drawings in line with industry codes and client requirements, while coordinating with junior drafting staff. The role includes delegating workloads, mentoring trainees, and ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables on multiple projects.

You will perform QA/QC reviews of drawings, apply specialist knowledge, and stay updated on developments in electrical design, underground construction methods, and permitting

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical/Civil with 3-4 years experience or ITI in Electrical/Civil with 6-8 years.
• Underground experience and transmission/distribution exposure preferred.
• Proven communication and IT skills.
• Experience leading a team of engineers and designers.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Knowledge of underground powerlines construction methods a plus.
• Familiar with easements, right-of-way, and permitting considerations.
• Knowledge of creating plan & profile drawings using Civil-3D.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical/Civil with 3-4 years of experience OR ITI in Electrical/Civil with 6-8 years of experience.
• Underground experience a plus. Transmission or distribution experience preferred.
• Proven verbal and written communication and IT (office packages) skills
• Track record in finding solutions to complex problems within deadlines.
• Experience leading a team of engineers and designers:
• Managing multiple projects, deadlines, and deliverables in parallel.
• Communicating with multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Priority management and schedule planning.
• Knowledge of underground powerlines construction methods a plus.
• Knowledge regarding easements, right-of-way, and permitting considerations and impacts.
• Knowledge of creating plan & profile drawings using Civil-3D
• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize work.
• Knowledge of utility telecommunications, distributed energy resource integration, and advanced distribution technologies a plus.
• Strong analytical capability.
• Flexibility to work in different roles for different clients both locally and worldwide.
• Flexibility to travel will be a considerable advantage.
• Capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
