Job summary

SGAS Consultants LLP is seeking an accounting professional for hotel operations. The role focuses on revenue and expense management, financial reconciliation, and robust reporting to support budgeting and audits.

You will work with Nimble, Inn-flow, and QuickBooks in a hospitality setting, ensuring accuracy and timely closes. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in hospitality accounting, strong Excel skills, and knowledge of POS/PMS systems.

Qualifications

• Proven accounting experience in hospitality (1–2 years).
• Familiarity with hotel revenue management and occupancy metrics.
• Strong MS Excel skills and financial reporting ability.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily revenue and expense in hotel operations including room and F&B.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable for corporate, events bookings.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Reconcile revenue reports with POS and PMS systems; perform bank reconciliations.
• Audit support and maintain internal controls to prevent leakages.
• Assist budgeting and forecasting; track variances and suggest actions.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Revenue and Expense Management:

• Monitor daily financial transactions, including room revenue, food & beverage sales, and other departmental income.
• Manage accounts payable (vendor payments) and receivable (corporateaccounts, event bookings).

2. Financial Reconciliation:

• Reconcile daily revenue reports with Point of Sale (POS) systems and

property management systems (PMS).

• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.

3. Cost Control:

• Track operational expenses and ensure adherence to budgetary controls.
• Analyse departmental profitability and identify areas for cost optimization.

4. Financial Reporting:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Generate and analyse reports such as profit-and-loss statements, occupancy statistics, and food cost percentages.

5. Audit and Internal Controls:

• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate financial documentation.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to prevent revenue leakages.

6. Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts for hotel operations.
• Monitor variances and recommend corrective actions.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (Masters degree or CA preferred).
• Experience: 1-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality sector.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in hospitality accounting software (e.g. Nimble, Inn-flow, QuickBooks). Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with hotel revenue management, POS systems, and occupancy metrics. Strong understanding of food cost accounting and inventory control.
• Soft Skills: Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
