Job summary

Hubbell in India (Kerala) is seeking a Transportation Load Planner to plan, schedule, and release domestic and international shipments, aiming to maximize load efficiency and minimize costs. You will work with customer service, warehouse operations, carriers, and freight forwarders to ensure shipments meet dates and customer requirements, using SAP, MercuryGate, and other systems.

This role offers exposure to a global logistics network within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or related field.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, or warehouse operations.
  • Experience with carriers, freight forwarders, or 3PL is a plus.
  • SAP and MercuryGate experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and release domestic/international/intercompany shipments to meet customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Use SAP, MercuryGate, and other systems to plan, release, monitor, and manage shipments.
  • Coordinate daily shipment activity with warehouse operations to balance workload.
  • Work closely with Customer Service to support customer requirements, prioritize urgent requests, and resolve shipment-related issues.
  • Select the appropriate carrier, transportation mode, and routing option in accordance with Hubbell's routing guidelines and customer requirements.
  • Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders, brokers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure shipments are planned and customer expectations are met.
  • Utilize customer routing portals to obtain routing instructions, schedule shipments, and ensure compliance with customer transportation requirements.
  • Review materials and shipment requirements to optimize freight capacity.
  • Provide clear shipment notes and instructions to warehouse personnel and transportation partners to ensure customer requirements are understood.
  • Ensure shipment documentation requirements are properly addressed.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying operational issues and opportunities to improve service, efficiency, and overall performance.
  • Provide carrier freight quotes for customer shipment requests.
  • Support Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes
  • Provide back-up coverage for team members as needed.
  • Provide on-call support after hours during emergencies/severe weather conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Management Systems Manager.

Job Overview:

The Transportation Load Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and releasing domestic and international customer and intercompany shipments in a manner that maximizes weight and volume per load, minimizes freight costs, and ensures customer requested dates are met or exceeded. This role works closely with customer service, warehouse operations, carriers, freight forwarders, and other business partners to support the efficient movement of goods throughout the supply chain.

A Day in the Life:

  • Plan, schedule, and release domestic/international/intercompany shipments to support customer requirements and business objectives.

What Will Help You Thrive in This Role?

  • Bachelors degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, distribution, warehouse operations, shipping, customer service, or other supply chain-related functions preferred.
  • Experience working with carriers, freight forwarders, third-party logistics providers, or transportation service providers is a plus.
  • SAP experience preferred; Warehouse Management experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience using transportation management systems (TMS) preferred; MercuryGate experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience using customer routing portals; a plus but not required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a customer-focused mindset.
