Job summary

DMart is seeking a Transport Planner to ensure the smooth, cost-efficient movement of finished goods between repacking units, warehouses, and stores. The role emphasizes compliance, accurate documentation, and timely dispatches in a fast-paced FMCG retail environment.

The candidate should manage daily dispatches, optimize routes, monitor TAT, and coordinate with transport partners while maintaining SOP-aligned records and reports.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning and execution.
• Familiar with e-way bill systems, GPS tracking, and transport ERP tools.
• Strong coordination, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic understanding of FSSAI and food transport safety norms.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and logistics reporting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily dispatches from repacking units to warehouses and stores to ensure on-time deliveries.
• Optimize truck utilization, route planning, and load scheduling to control logistics cost.
• Monitor vehicle turnaround time (TAT) and minimize demurrage or idle time.
• Coordinate with transporters and logistics partners; onboard vendors as per SOPs; resolve issues.
• Prepare e-way bills, invoices, GRNs; maintain transport records for audits.
• Track transport cost per ton/km and maintain MIS reports on freight cost and vehicle efficiency.
• Liaise with warehouse, stores, procurement, quality and repacking teams to align dispatch priorities.

Job description

Purpose of the Role:

To ensure smooth, cost-effective, and timely movement of goods(finished products)betweenrepacking units, warehouses, and stores while maintaining compliance, documentation accuracy, and service quality.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Transport Planning & Execution

• Plan and coordinate daily dispatches from repacking units to warehouses and warehouses to Stores to ensure on-time deliveries.
• Optimize truck utilization, route planning, and load scheduling to control logistics cost.
• Monitor vehicle turnaround time (TAT) and minimize demurrage or idle time.

2. Vendor Coordination

• Coordinate with transporters and logistics partners for vehicle availability, performance tracking, and issue resolution.
• Assist in onboarding and evaluating transport vendors as per company SOPs.
• Maintain transporter agreements, rate contracts, and service quality parameters.

3. Documentation & Compliance

• Ensure correct and timely preparation of e-way bills, invoices, and GRNs.
• Verify vehicle and driver compliance (RC, FSSAI, insurance, pollution, license, etc.) before dispatch.
• Maintain transport records, trip sheets, and supporting documents for audits.

4. Cost & Performance Monitoring

• Track transport cost per ton/km and identify cost optimization opportunities.
• Maintain MIS reports on freight cost, TAT, and vehicle efficiency.
• Support transport billing verification and payment coordination with Finance.

5. Coordination & Issue Resolution

• Liaise with warehouse, Stores, procurement, quality, and repacking teams to align dispatch priorities.
• Address transit damages, shortages, or delays through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Support logistics network improvement and transport-related projects.

Candidate Profile:

Experience: 2-6 Years

Gender: Male

Industry: Preferably from FMCG, Dairy, Retail or any Food Industry

Qualification: Any Graduate

• Knowledge of primary and secondary transport operations.
• Familiar with e-way bill systems, GPS tracking, and transport ERP tools.
• Strong coordination, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic understanding of FSSAI and food transport safety norms.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and logistics reporting
