Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking a Transmission Designer in Bengaluru. You will prepare Plan & Profile drawings, permitting, and structure loading designs using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CADD tools.

The role involves client interaction, markups, and ensuring designs meet regulatory standards. Applicants should have 2+ years of CADD drafting experience, strong English communication, and familiarity with transmission line construction methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Diploma in Civil/Electrical (or ITI) with relevant CADD experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, Revit and related tools.
• Excellent English communication and documentation skills.
• Experience with survey, easements, right-of-way and permitting preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to client needs globally.

Transmission Designer

Responsibilities

• The preparation of engineering drawings like Plan & Profile, permitting, assembly and structure framing/loading drawings, reports and designs to support engineers.
• Preparing both rough sketches and detailed work with CADD systems.
• Picking up the markups as per the client requirement.
• Communicating with engineers, and incorporating knowledge gained into drawings.
• Preparing, reviewing, and redrafting alongside the engineering team.
• Work independently but with some engineering guidance on complex projects
• Ensuring final designs are compliant with regulations.
• Identifying and communicating potential design/drafting problems to the rest of the team.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients.
• Ownership responsibility on the assigned work is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Diploma in Civil/Electrical with 1-10 years of experience OR ITI in Civil/Electrical with 3-10 years of experience as CADD designer.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Microsoft Office Suite and drafting AutoCAD.
• Proficient in the English language.
• Proven verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of overhead transmission line construction methods is preferable
• Experience with various CADD tools like AutoCAD, MicroStation, Google Earth, Revit, Civil3D.
• Knowledge regarding survey, easements, right-of-way, and permitting.
• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize work.
• Flexibility to work in different roles for different clients both locally and worldwide.
