Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking a Transmission Line Designer to produce Plan & Profile drawings, loading and structure drawings, and related reports for transmission line projects in India. You will work with engineers to transform markups into accurate CAD deliverables and ensure designs meet regulatory requirements.

The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and other CADD tools, experience across multiple projects, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Diploma in Civil/Electrical with 1–10 years experience or ITI in Civil/Electrical with 3–10 years as CADD designer.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Microsoft Office Suite and drafting AutoCAD.
• Proficient in English; strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings: Plan & Profile, permitting, assembly and structure framing/loading drawings, reports and designs.
• Create rough sketches and detailed CAD drawings.
• Incorporate client markups into drawings and communicate with engineers.
• Prepare, review and redraft with the engineering team; work independently under guidance on complex projects.
• Ensure designs comply with regulations and consider potential drafting issues.

Transmission Line Designer – MBI

Job Responsibilities

• The preparation of engineering drawings like Plan & Profile, permitting, assembly and structure framing/loading drawings, reports and designs to support engineers.
• Preparing both rough sketches and detailed work with CADD systems.
• Picking up the markups as per the client requirement.
• Communicating with engineers, and incorporating knowledge gained into drawings.
• Preparing, reviewing, and redrafting alongside the engineering team.
• Work independently but with some engineering guidance on complex projects
• Ensuring final designs are compliant with regulations.
• Identifying and communicating potential design/drafting problems to the rest of the team.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients.
• Ownership responsibility on the assigned work is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Diploma in Civil/Electrical with 1-10 years of experience OR ITI in Civil/Electrical with 3-10 years of experience as CADD designer.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Microsoft Office Suite and drafting AutoCAD.
• Proficient in the English language.
• Proven verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of overhead transmission line construction methods is preferable
• Experience with various CADD tools like AutoCAD, MicroStation, Google Earth, Revit, Civil3D.
• Knowledge regarding survey, easements, right-of-way, and permitting.
• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize work.
• Flexibility to work in different roles for different clients both locally and worldwide.
