Job summary

The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd is seeking a Training & Assessment Manager (Electrical & Crew) to develop competent officers and crew, support recruitment, training, assessment and career progression within the company training framework.

Role includes mentoring, compliance with statutory requirements and managing training programs and LMS under the Head – T&A. Mumbai-based position offering growth in a leading private-sector shipping company.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' sailing experience as an Electrical Officer, preferably on tankers.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Experience with MAN B&W ME-B / ME-C engine automation systems preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct Marine Electrical Workshop, Automation and ME Engine training for assigned ranks.
• Evaluate TAR books, DLP books, Skill-Up Program submissions and Competency Tests; report to Head – T&A and conduct promotions.
• Mentor AEOs, EOs and Ratings through TNI-based guidance, onboard practical training and development.
• Assist Head – T&A in designing, reviewing and updating training programs, Skill-Up Program, Training Matrix and tools to ensure compliance with standards.
• Assist Head – T&A in managing LMS, CBT modules, digital content, portals and dashboards; evaluate training effectiveness and audits.
• Selection, induction and onboarding of TEOs and Trainee GP Ratings; monitor onboard training progress and report progress.
• Assist Head – T&A in annual budget planning, expenditure monitoring, training infrastructure and vendor management

Role Summary

Training & Assessment Manager (Electrical & Crew) is responsible for developing competent Assistant Electrical Officers (AEOs), Electrical Officers (EOs) and Deck & Engine Crew. The role supports recruitment, technical training, competency assessment, career progression, statutory and company compliance, mentoring, monitoring of assigned ranks and the efficient administration of the Company's training framework under the guidance of the Head – T&A.

Qualification & Experience

• Minimum 3 years' sailing experience as an Electrical Officer, preferably on tankers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Training Delivery & Competency Development

• Conduct Marine Electrical Workshop, Automation and ME Engine (Automation) training and deliver training programs for assigned ranks as per the Company's Training Matrix.
• Evaluate TAR books, DLP books, Skill-Up Program submissions and Competency Assessment Tests, submit periodic reports to the Head – T&A and conduct promotion interviews for TEO-to-AEO and AEO-to-EO progression.
• Mentor AEOs, EOs and Ratings through TNI-based guidance, onboard practical training and competency development.
• Assist Head – T&A in designing, reviewing and updating training programs, Skill-Up Program, Training Matrix, competency assessment tools and question banks to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, DNV-ST-0029, international standards and industry best practices.
• Assist Head – T&A in managing LMS, CBT modules, digital content, portals and dashboards, evaluating training effectiveness, conducting institute audits and implementing approved corrective actions and risk mitigation measures.

3. Recruitment, Training Administration & Budget Management

• Selection, induction and onboarding of TEOs and Trainee GP Ratings, monitor onboard training progress, assign and evaluate task-based learning and prepare periodic progress and competency reports.
• Assist Head – T&A in annual budget planning, expenditure monitoring, training infrastructure enhancement, vendor and institute contract management, resource planning and promotion of in-house training programmes.
