Job summary

Job description

Responsibilities
  • In charge of course‑specific training and the delivery of navigational, soft‑skill, safety, OEM and vessel‑specific courses to seafarers at AEMTC.
  • Develop and monitor periodic updates and improvements to courses as course‑in‑charge.
  • Maintain communication with other AE departments, vessel and fleet managers to identify training needs and improve courses in line with organizational objectives.
Requirements
  • Supervision of training activities and needs analysis.
  • As course in‑charge, take responsibility for updating and revising course master files, participant handouts, preparing and updating PowerPoint presentations, relevant videos, exercises, and tests, incorporating new regulations, best industry practices, and new training materials received.
  • Undertake overall supervision of courses in consultation with the Programme Head and in accordance with QMS and relevant DNV/National/International guidelines and standards.
  • Conduct training activities to the best of abilities, following the course plan and supplementing with practical experience and using AESM vessel‑related incidents.
  • Verify course completion records and ensure they are maintained and available for verification.
  • Conduct course review meetings with course‑in‑charge and faculty related to that course, ensuring completion of post‑course documentation for timely certification of participants.
  • Communicate revisions to courses to other AEMTCs for incorporation into their courses and update the courseware.
  • Identify training needs based on AESM fleet incidents and inspection reports, under the guidance of the Programme Head.
  • Monitor non‑routine messages and discuss with team members, preparing instructions for incorporating case studies into the courses.
  • Monitor documentation handling of non‑compliances.
  • Take proactive steps to avoid non‑compliance in training processes and documents.
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with AEMTC Quality Standards and regulatory body requirements.
  • Monitor training hardware performance and upkeep.
  • Ensure all training equipment, simulators or plants are kept in good condition and maintain sufficient stock of spare parts and consumables.
  • Arrange inspection, calibration and annual testing in accordance with current standards, legislation, guidance and manufacturer recommendations, maintaining records.
  • Develop computer‑based training modules as required by management, collecting information from vessels and Technical/Operational/QHSE departments of AESM worldwide offices.
  • Liaise with external bodies to provide remote assistance and address specific vessel queries.
Communication

External: Industries bodies, managers of shipping companies, training institutes, Directorate General of Shipping, Mercantile Marine Department, Indian Maritime University / Mumbai University.

Internal: AE Training centre, FPD dept, QHSE dept, vessel managers, fleet managers, operation managers and QHSE managers.

Knowledge & Experience
Education
  • Master Mariner Class I – COC from a reputed Flag State or other specialized qualification.
  • Other specialized training courses and certifications.
Experience
  • Master of at least 1 yr. sailing experience.
  • 3–4 yrs. teaching experience.
Specific Business Knowledge
  • Maritime education and training.
