Job summary

Ubifly Technologies Pvt Ltd in Chennai is seeking a Mid senior/Senior Level Tooling Engineer for Jigs & Fixture design and development for eVTOL airframes prototype manufacturing. You will interact with vendors and cross-functional teams to realize tooling and prove out for assembly integration.

Key responsibilities include designing bonding, assembly jigs and fixtures, performing DFM/DFA reviews, coordinating with suppliers, and maintaining tool design records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace or related field required.
• 5+ years of experience in jigs & fixture design & fabrication in aerospace.
• Familiarity with aerospace jigs, fixtures, tooling, parts and materials desired.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop bonding jigs, assembly jigs & fixtures for aircraft sub-assembly and integration.
• Perform DFM/DFA assessments to ensure manufacturability of airframe systems.
• Coordinate with vendors and cross-functional teams for tooling realization and prove-out.
• Maintain documentation and records of tool designs and modifications.

Job description

As an Mid senior/Senior Level Tooling Engineer- Jigs&Fixture design, you will be responsible for Jigs & Fixture design & development for eVTOL airframes prototype manufacturing & supporting in assembly integration.The candidate will be responsible for interacting with vendors and cross functional teams in realisation of tooling and proveout.

• Design and develop Bonding jigs, assembly jigs & fixtures, Ground support equipments, Inspection gauges used in the production and maintenance of aircraft sub-assembly, assembly & integration.
• Perform DFM/DFA assessment during tooling design reviews to ensure manufacturability of airframe systems.
• Exposure to Aircraft assembly & integration processes, 3D metrology inspection.
• Strong hold in CAD modelling & drafting in CATIA V6, Enovia PLM.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records of tool designs and modifications.
• Assist Internal/external suppliers and customers with tooling related fabrication questions
• Process quote backup sheets with required tooling and technical data in support of procurement for Out-of-Production product lines
• Interrogate engineering/tooling drawings and CAD models to understand tool geometry and complexity, with knowledge of the Cartesian coordinate system, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Utilize knowledge of common manufacturing processes as they relate to tooling, including casting, machining, forging, sheet metal fabrication, tube bending, welding, molding, composite layup and assembly to support Supply Chain
• Utilize understanding of the different part commodities/part build strategies and what tool types are generally used for each commodity
• Understanding of the need for periodic tool inspections and audits and ability to execute them
• Articulate technical details relative to fabrication methods and tools required
• Utilize a basic understanding of Loft Engineering
• Utilize knowledge of the use of Master Tooling to control aircraft configuration
• Coordination of tool repair, improvement and engineering change activity, as needed.
• Experience with Excel, PowerPoint / Google suite.
• Adhere to project timelines and budgets and quality of output.
• Basic knowledge on ERP & PLM
